    2011 was a great year for pop music. It was also a notable year for natural disaster. It's like there was something in the air and recording artists were feeling it and writing from it. The mood slump that followed 9/11 and the 2008 Recession suddenly came to an end and there was a contagious energy going around. It probably helped that even sane people were secretly wondering "what if the world really does end in 2012?" The whole year 2011 had the vibe of a supermarket shopping spree the day before a blizzard.
