Katie Ferrara-Please Come Back to Me Live at Kulak's Woodshed

Pre-save Please Come Back to me Available July 5th on all streaming platforms! Thank you so much. push.fm/ps/pleasecomebacktome

It's been almost 10 years since I performed at Kulak's Woodshed in Los Angeles. If you search on YouTube, you'll find a video of young Katie, performing an original song called "Home" with my friend Jesse David Corti. I sound a bit different now in comparison.

Please come Back to me is a song I co-wrote during the pandemic about the way we write history in this country. What is freedom? Where is our country heading and do we let the same story repeat?

Many thanks to Kulak's for having me back and to Monica Lawson for the video! If you enjoyed this live version of my song, please share, like and comment. Thank you so much!

Please Come Back to Me (2024)
Written by Katie Ferrara and Bob Brisco

I pledge allegiance to old glory
Musty classroom, every morning
Pigtails, braces, awkward ages
Black and white letters pressed into flat pages

Narratives crafted by our fathers
skip the harsh details that don't matter
history's told by those who win
erasing traces of original sin

In the land of the free
Is where I wanna be
Won't you please, please, please come back to me

In the land of the free
is where I wanna be
Won't you please, please, please come back

Lincoln's top hat in a glass case
Freedom won at a snails pace
Dressed in denim and I'm all grown up
What I believed, I'm all torn up
Red white and blue, so unglued
Doctor King, where are you?
Marches and riots, picket signs
There's so many voices in my mind

In the land of the free
Is where I wanna be
Won't you please, please, please come back to me

In the land of the free
is where I wanna be
Won't you please, please, please come back to me

I sing for my sisters, sing for my faith
Sing for my love, sing for today
I sing for my sisters, sing for my faith
Sing for my sisters sing for today
I sing for my sisters, sing for my faith,
Sing for my love, sing for today

I sing for my sisters, sing for my faith
Sing for my love sing for today

Woody Guthrie strumming his song
And all of the Kennedy's are singing along
Sixty years laters and nothing has changed
The sound of police and the American Dream
When social media fans the flames
Everybody looks for who to blame
Deja vu, history renewed
Blood spills, street lights reveal the truth

In the land of the free
Is where I wanna be
Won't you please, please, please come back to me

In the land of the free
is where I wanna be
Won't you please, please, please come back to me

I am soooo bummed that I missed you at Redlands a few days ago...silly family trip😢. Awesome song. We need more protest songs about how we are going so far from what was hard fought and won during the 60's and 70's. Love It!

As with all of your songwriting, lyrics that go deep. You're one of the best! Keep 'em coming, Katie! ❤

Sitting and watching this while getting an oil change. The people on each side of me scooched in to watch too, one of them saying, "Wow, who's that?". Then they asked me, "Why isn't she famous?!?". Why indeed!

Freedom comes back when you don't enslave others. Freedom was originally gained by defeating the armies of the British monarchy & Lords, who ruled the colonies that they established through emigration, often by people who wanted to get away from their rule. Great new song. Good to hear you again, Katie! ❤❤❤❤

This is a fantastic filming! I enjoyed the song when I heard it live, and can’t wait to hear the full version with its studio sound. Pre-ordered on iTunes, and looking forward to it!
