How did the UK and US Steal Diego Garcia Island? | Flashback with Palki Sharma

In the 1960s and 1970s, the United States and the United Kingdom stole an island located in the Indian Ocean. They emptied the island of its local population and converted it into a military base in the middle of the ocean. That island is called Diego Garcia. Once frequented by Indian and Arab sailors, the discovery of this island by Europeans led to rapid developments that would shape its future. From colonisation to expulsion to occupation, this is the story of an injustice that is yet to be addressed. How did the UK and the US take control of this strategically important island? Who is the rightful owner of this land? And what happened to the locals who once lived there? Palki Sharma tells you on Flashback.

An eye opening coverage ! How two habitual offenders stole the peoples land
  • Thank you for sharing this story. The Colonizers have no shame and there is no limit to their evil doings.

If an American or an European come across any island for the first time, (only for them) even if it’s already inhabited, still it’s a ‘discovery’!!! Like the rest of us are anybody but humans 😅

I am not even surprised anymore. It seems par for course for west. All this outrage for Taiwan and not a peep for Tibet. Even in their enmity they are duplicitious. Let alone when its their own interest.
  • As a Mauritian I was not aware of the depths of our past history..my deepest appreciation to you dear lady palki... With all my respect to you. ❤

Thank you, Palki for bringing up this report, from Mauritius. Every major power wants to take the archipelago but legally and in reality it belongs to Mauritius. This is like what the US did to the native tribes in America.
  • Why isn't the whole world crying about it? When it's about Palestine the world shed tears but when it is about some minority is just insignificant enough to have the whole world rally to their cause???
