Ever since the release of Minecraft version 1.9, many PvPers were not satisfied with the state of Minecraft's combat system. Aware of their players' growing concerns for combat, Mojang released numerous experimental updates for a new version of Minecraft combat, redesigned from the ground up. Mysteriously, this combat update was never introduced into the live game, and was seemingly left abandoned. Was Minecraft's experimental combat update abandoned for a reason, or did it have the potential to finally reunite the Minecraft PvP community? Watch the video to find out!

I honestly forgot about the update after a bit. Really interesting how they just left it behind

Correction at -> 3:22 “From my testing, it seems like different sources of damage provide different amounts of invulnerability.” They do not. All sources of damage still provide the same amount. The difference now is that the invulnerability is tied to that specific damage source. In every release, you would get 10 ticks of invulnerability as soon as you take damage from any source. During that window, you cannot take damage from ANOTHER source as well. In CTS, those 10 ticks do not apply to other sources of damage.

As a veteran CTS player myself, I kind of completely agree with you now. You should maybe even make another video about what you want changed in 1.20 combat to make it even better.
  • @certifiably
Wow, this editing is amazing! I do like your other video style too, but this is really, really good!
  • @Vendetta_killer
I really hope 1.21 improves upon these experimental changes so we get the Best out of Minecraft PvP

I just watched your video on the experimental combat update in Minecraft, and it was quite an intriguing exploration of a topic that has left many players wondering. The shift in the combat system since version 1.9 has indeed been a point of contention among the PvP community, and Mojang's attempt to address these concerns through experimental updates adds an extra layer of curiosity. Your video presented a thought-provoking analysis of whether the experimental combat update had the potential to reunite the Minecraft PvP community or if there were specific reasons behind its abandonment. It's fascinating to consider how game developers navigate the fine line between addressing player feedback and maintaining the integrity of the overall gaming experience. As a player myself, I've often found that changes to core gameplay elements can be divisive, with some players embracing new mechanics while others long for the familiarity of earlier versions. The question of whether the experimental combat update could have been the solution to the community's concerns is certainly one that resonates with many Minecraft enthusiasts. I appreciate the effort you put into exploring this topic and providing insights into the potential reasons behind the update's abandonment. It's always interesting to delve into the intricacies of game development decisions and their impact on player communities.

missed your videos man, insane as usual <3

They should make blocking an attack reset your attack cooldown, but make blocking instant. You don't want to be blocking, but blocking is still better than taking damage.

The main reason behind rehauling the entire combat system is so that bedrock can reach parity without having to adopt the controversial 1.9 mechanics. Cts tries to make a new system, where fighting like 1.9 or 1.8 will be a viable combat technique, especially within pve. That way people don't need to readjust as much, but if they want to, there's a whole system you can master. I think it was going in the right direction before it was abandoned

intel, this video was very informative and interesting, the editing was clean and i loved it! keep up the good work
  • @Kilp_
there are some really awful changes in the snapshot but i have to admit, stacking drinkable potions to 16 would be extremely convenient, albeit also really overpowered maybe
  • @SeaTqrtle
Glad to see Intel uploading again. Keep up the grind bro! ❤💯🔥
  • @Technonova323
I ALWAYS wished that they worked with this combat more, simply because holding left click to constantly hit is WAY better than 1.8's PVP. They only needed a handful of changes, and I think it would've been great. Alas, it’s been abandoned.
  • @Nelzonn
Great new video! Glad your back!
