How to Set Magneto Ignition Timing Harley WR 45 Vintage Flathead Racer Motorcycle WICO Billy Lane

WICO Model X replica magneto from:

I set magneto timing between 35-degrees & 45-degrees before top-dead-center. The need for spark advance increases with engine rpm. My 1946 Harley-Davidson WR revs to 7,200 rpm, & requires more advance than a street bike WL 45” that revs to 4,500 rpm. #billylane #harley #hd #car

Just wondering if you’ve ever done anything with the V-Rod engines. Considering the heat in Florida, it might be a good choice for a city cruiser.

    Thanks for another useful tidbit...😉

Good stuff!! Messing with a friends '47 flatty that has a Morris mag that seems to have intermittent sparking issues but also has an issue with kicker. I think it has too much shaft end play and the kicker gear on the far left of the trans isn't engaging firmly causing it to slip when kicking, not giving me a full stroke kick. Any idea on how much end play is too mcuh?? The manual I have doesn't seem to list any specs that I can find
