SECOND TRIMESTER RECAP: hyperemesis gravidarum & other symptoms

I was pregnant what felt like all of last year. I felt so sick all of it and then when my nausea kind of went away, I just felt so huge and uncomfortable. Pregnancy is so so rough for so many. Then the newborn phase is so incredibly rough. It’s a marathon having these babies I swear. You got this Nikki! You are getting through it!

My husband is from CDA and we considered moving to that area. Cost of living is much cheaper where we are though. I find it fun to see places he showed me on visits & places he spent part of his childhood in your videos! I'm 8 weeks pregnant and living with HG. I do a whole lot of nothing. No food sounds good and not much stays down. I am hoping to get a referral to regularly receive fluids. I am sorry you also have dealt with it but I'm finding comfort to see someone so far along with it.

Thank you for sharing your journey! I think it’s important to share the low points or hard points in our lives. You are moving through with such Grace and it’s inspiring, and also encouraging at least to me when you admit sometimes you can feel better and yet all you can do is just eat. I don’t have that but sometimes I just don’t feel well for whatever reason and I feel like I don’t deserve to sit or just take a day off, I feel like other moms can handle this and that I should be able to as well. Again i don’t have what you have of course but I still find you so encouraging. Also you look beautiful 🥰

Hey Nikki! I feel for you on such a personal level. Last winter, I could barley move because my abdominal wall had torn. This winter, I’m also struggling with HG in my first pregnancy. I got diagnosed with HG at 10 weeks when I ended up in the ER almost unresponsive from dehydration and lack of nutrition. I couldn’t keep anything down. I wrote it off as morning sickness and thought I was just being dramatic. But nope, turns out it’s VERY different. Most people don’t understand unless they’ve personally gone through it. The only thing that’s helped me keep food down is Zofran. I’d much rather not be on a medication but the alternative was much worse. Anyways, from one HG mom to another, sending you love. I hope you get that big drink of water you’ve been craving and can keep it down!

I am so happy for you guys!! I was just diagnosed with the same thing. Im only 6 weeks and its really bad. I can barley eat. Its been so hard to get through the day. How did you manage to at least eat?

My ankles were SOOOO itchy in the first trimester!!!! I also had sickness in the first and into the second trimester and got down and depressed 😢 ans I didn't even have hyperemesis, I can't even imagine! Praying you are on the road to recovery

Sending you so much love, Nikki! If I may ask, did you have HG when you were pregnant with Logan? Just curious if it’s worse with #2? I’m pregnant with baby #1 now and wondering if subsequent pregnancies get worse because of mineral nutrient loss.
