Good job Reno. Let all the counties learn from you guys. It is possible, just that NOT every county wants to take the responsibility. Kudos to you guys š

SF has NO intention in reducing homelessness. Taking care of homeless is BIG $ maker.
-
This needs to spread across America.

Great work there in Reno. Unfortunately, SF is a corrupt city and nonprofits there need homeless people so they can continue to get grants from SF. Most of the money goes to administrators of these nonprofits. Very poor leadership in SF and no accountability.

It's amazing to hear a city who really addressed this problem. I still don't have hope for CA though.

Drugs play a key role in both city's homelessness. While San Francisco allows for open-air drug markets, the state of Nevada does not. Although Nevada legalizes the possession of small amounts of marijuana, the state still implements strict laws on the possession and distribution of controlled substances.

Thank you Case Managers !

San Francsico please save your city its such a beautiful cityš¢!!

Do you forget it was places like Reno that sent their homeless to California, half of the California homeless come from other states.
-
I worked with homeless in Stockton, youād be surprised how many homeless from Reno that were given bus tickets to Stockton with no means of support despite being promised some. Also, Bay Area cities donāt get as cold, and the homeless donāt have as much of an incentive to tolerate and meet the rules of facilities and shelters.

It's not the shelter beds alone, it's homeless people refusing them. San Francisco refuses to push people off the street who need to be in shelters. Homeless activists in SF have already demanded that homeless stay in downtown and they would lose their minds if anyone suggested they go into a metal tent. Activists are demanding a million dollar apartment for every person. No way this would fly in SF.

There is more homelessness in Reno now. But the people are nicer and very respectful. Back in 2020 winter, while I was there I tried to give sandwich and cookies to an old lady. She was shivering in cold.she was old and frightened but her smile and appreciating I will never forget. Winters in Reno is extremely cold. Glad the city of Reno and the county is doing something. Where as SF, I donāt wanna talk about it,

Send this video to the city leaders ASAP.

Like what they offered them $50 a meal voucher and a bus ticket out of state, to where they want to go like back in 2009 or did everybody forget about that?

Reno has changed in the last 6 yrs for the better. I'm a frequent Reno visitor from San Francisco and the difference is night and day. But the anchor said something stood out, Reno has the intend for change.
-
A big part is that Reno/Sparks enforce the no camping on public spaces! California can't do that because their politicians seem to love the homeless.
-
It's amazing how CA officials can't figure it out and have to look to others that have a better idea of what's going on in their state to solve our at least attempt to tackle the homeless/drug issues. But then again CA is overrun with homeless advocates that rather line their pockets with taxpayer dollars. Because if they figure out how to solve this, they won't have a "job" anymore...

What happened is most of those people left and came to California. Since they canāt pitch a tent on Reno, they moved along over the border.

Proud to be a Nevadan! Silver State FTW šŖš»
