These times when a song could be played over 11 minutes and still not becoming boring.
-
Knopfler is probably one of the best guitar players of all time
-
In my opinion, one of the best masterpiece ever made in music of all times.

Mark is literally exploding with musical creativity. He barely plays any of the iconic licks from the record version. Instead he “simply” creates new ones, seemingly on the fly, and they are just as great. And what a great band he has behind him. They are all so into it, the energy is off the charts!

Guy on organ and piano playing both at same time! Wow amazing
-
Golden era of the music. No dancing, no show on the stage, no drama, no light show, no nothing. Just six virtuous people playing on their instruments.
-
There's something about Knopfler. Every fan of every genre pretty much universally recognises his brilliance.

I am 20 years old and listening to my father’s music collection. A big Dire Straits fan. That man has a good taste.
-
He should be titled Sir. A true legend
-
Real music by real musicians without auto tune or computer enhancement!
-
The energy and sheer joy of this performance is unmatched.
-
Mark is THE best lead guitarist to ever walk in this planet. No CONTEST….!! Lovable Humble Human Being…!!
-
Now Thats what you call music with passion and soul
-
I was there and thank God this recording exists for all who weren't or not even born it was every bit as magical as you could could imagine. I sometimes wonder if the band ever thought to themselves , as I did, that everything came together, everyone was on point and that was perfection ... Bliss Johnnie

The interplay between the guitar and saxophone in the last part is just unreal! Some of the best music I have ever heard.
-
Absolutely wild how melodic Knopflers improvisation is. It seems so effortless. No two Sultans performances are the same.
-
You literally just witnessed and heard greatness at the highest level in music history. Appreciate it.

46 years ago living on a small tropical island, no TV, only Telex and very expensive phone calls. One day I caught a brief snatch of Sultans but didn't hear it again until a year later when I briefly returned to UK to get married. by then it was a great hit. Always loved it since then and it will feature at my funeral.

I saw Mark Knopfler play at Knebworth Abbey in 1992 and at the Royal Albert Hall years later. Even after all this time, he has no equal. His mastery was beyond belief. One of the greatest guitar players of all time.

One of the greatest live performances by any band, at any time. And this track - beyond sublime!! I can just imagine Mark saying to the band "come on lads, lets give them the best performance they will ever see in their lives"
