  • Kewl idea. Just a suggestion. I was part owner of a construction company in Florida, where it rains every day at noon just about. When you'r4e using visqueen, which is the plastic you're using here, take the 1x2 and roll it underneath the visqueen a few times then pull that tight when you've removed enough slack. That does a couple things. This will remove a lot of the moisture seepage, keep the wood from rotting and create an even better barrier for pests. Another trick is to use two 1x2's and loop the visqueen under the first 1x2 and over the second. That would allow you to more easily make adjustments and it braces the plastic between two breaks creating an even distribution for the plastic to be held making it much less likely to expand at the screws and tear. Another thing you can do is add a small lip with an overhang of the plastic using 1x4 strips on the three sides that don't have hinges. That will create a better run off and keep the wood under the plastic from rotting for much longer. Simple tricks to make your building last longer. Hope this helps a bit man! 😁

This felt like a Minecraft tutorial.A good minecraft tutorial. Material list, step-to-step, detailed explanation and even tips on how to upgrade your farm in the late game. Top stuff, lad

Tuck and James, just wanted to let you know we built our first hinged hoophouse for a raised bed and it worked brilliantly, thanks to your instructions.😍❤
  • Prigione...😁 I watched this video last year and made 3 hinged hoop houses for my elevated raised garden beds. You're a great instructor, I had a TON of fun building them and they worked! ❤️
  • I saw a great idea on another hoop house video:. Install an extra handle on the raised bed below the handle for the hinged top. That way if it's windy, you can loop a bungy cord through to keep closed (or to keep critters out).

Beautiful build. We'll be a free people when every family has a couple of these beds to grow year round.

James after watching several videos, this was the best hoop house tutorial. Im a female but i feel empowered by your video to construct this hoop house. The only thing I think I want to do different is use material covering that is breathable, and allows for air, sunshine, and rain to get through, yet still protect against critters and pests. A million thanks. Your videos are high quality and pleasant to watch due to great video editing.

I really appreciate you breaking down the math and teaching us in a format that we can pause, take notes, and then apply to not only this project but many more. Thankyou!

I've been avoiding watching this video for a couple weeks as it keeps showing up in my youtube recommendations. Afterall, how difficult is it to build a PVC hoop cover for a raised bed? Nothing to it and who needs a video? Boy, am I glad I finally took the time to watch. It's a great video and demonstrates a simple, reliable, way to accomplish the task - far better than I would have done trying to rig something up on the fly,. Thank you!
  • Not sure why anyone would thumbs down such a clean and precise tutorial Thanks, great job!
  • @Chris_at_Home
I watched this video the first time a couple of years ago. I want to thank you for your design. I have four that I built exactly like yours and they have held up great.
  • @ramav87
This was fantastic, thanks James for a great tutorial. We built one looking at your video and I'm delighted how it turned out. It's remarkable just how warm it is inside. Am looking forward to winter harvests now!
  • @wenc.4424
WOW, this is the best hoop house video I have ever seen. I am 64 year old grandmother and will be making the box and the hoop house this weekend. You are such a great teacher. Wish me luck. I am in Ohio and my plan is to grow all of my salad vegetables through the winter for my grandson and myself. I look forward to your future videos!
  • outstanding job! I watch almost ZERO YouTube because I can't stand silly people who go too slow and yip-yap too much. Love the way you deliver concise and clear visual instructions.
  • This is by far the simplest to follow plan I’ve seen. A huge THANK YOU!! from those us who are mechanically challenged.😅 Your videos have been my gardening 101, 102, and so on. I have referred MANY other new gardeners to your channel. Thanks for ALL you do (and Tucker🥰).
  • @pauloroarty1799
I've never heard of a Hoophouse before and I am seriously blown away by this Video.Fantastic explanation, clear instructions totally Brilliant.Thank you James
  • @janmyers985
Great video! I appreciate that every minute of the video was instruction so we didn't have to wait while you went for supplies, do a lot of cutting, etc. All pure how-tos! Great job! Thanks.
  • @karmie87
Never thought I’d need to use pi outside of school
  • The PERFECT instructional video! It's sooooo difficult to find videos that don't have all that jibber jabber BS and you end up wasting so much time trying to find the info you need. This was presented CLEAR, CONCISE and EASY to understand, even for a beginner! THANK YOU!
  • James I've been watching your videos now for about a year - I just subscribe - love your interaction with Tuck, and the information you are providing is timeless - thanks so much for your continued focus to helping me become a self reliant gardener!
