Great video! I just had two MRIs done for my liver. My enzymes were high. Liver was fine, doctor just told me to lose weight, which I'm doing. Now we have to address a gall stone that he found. Drinking green tea with lemon and oolong tea. We are fortunate to have filtered well water. Converting my food storage containers to glass. I am reading your EAT TO BEAT YOUR DIET book.

I juiced several watermelons with some arugula, spinach and ginger and froze it in glass, juice shot containers. So good. I think green tea is bland. I toss the green tea bag in my morning coffee.
  • Thanks so much. I love green tea, matcha as well as coffee and watermelon. Watermelon is also good for our brain and delicious when you blend it with basil. Wishing everyone a healthy & happy life!

You can also cook with tea. I toast quinoa, then cook it with brewed lapsang souchang (a smoked, black tea from China). You can also make rice, miso ramen, oats, basically anything you cook with water by substituting all or part of the water with tea. It’s fun to play with the various possibilities. Soak steel cut oats in earl grey overnight and serve with cherries, cacao chips, and pistachios. Add any other favorite smoothie add-ons (chia and hemps seeds, saffron, berries). Have fun with it!
  • Hi Dr Li, just want to thank you for all the amazing studies on the foods we eat,!! I love researching foods as well!! I listen to you just about every day and always learn something new to incorporate into my lifestyle. I'm a vegan, but I think it's so cool that you don't dictate to anyone what is right for them!! I have to also tell you that you are the best teacher...you make all of the systems in our bodies so easy to understand,!! I think you're great!! Keep up the good eork and just know how appreciated you are. All the best for you and your family 😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉❤❤ I was an elementary school teacher and I wish more teachers could be like you.,!!!
  • Dr. Li, ❤❤❤I love your videos and have a few of your books. I am Whole foods plant based, low sodium, no added oil or sugar where possible. I find your information invaluable for understanding the complexities of diet and lifestyle health concerns. It is so good to know that you are on top of the latest research to dispel common myths. I am trying to build muscle, counting my protein and trying to reduce inflammation. I think I might be skinny fat due to desk work. I am trying to somehow improve my health with the help of my primary and other specialists. Thanks again. BTW I was not on this diet until recently. I was on the SAD diet (standard American diet) most of my life.
  • A daily dose of Doctor Li helps keep me on track for a healthy diet and lifestyle. It helps me tremendously to know HOW my body works with foods I consume vs just being told what to eat (or not to eat) and when.

The lycopene in tomatoes is greatly enhanced by cooking them for half an hour, and it is absorbed better if there's a little oil in the mix (like in a home made pasta sauce). The lycopene in watermelon isn't enhanced by cooking or oil.
  • Benifuuki' green tea is better than matcha green tea in certain ways. it is also a powder tea or tea bag. Benifuuki’ is rich in O-methylated catechins (epigallocatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) gallate (EGCG"Me) and epicatechin-3-O-(3-O-methyl) gallate (ECG3"Me))
  • I buy watermelon on sale, cut it up, store it in the freezer and take out what I need for blending into a drink on hot, sunny days! Great video! I'm going to try green tea in the early evening and have my 4 cups of black coffee robusta during the day. I buy robusta beans grown and roasted here in Malaysia. I also get local green teas. Never knew they would help my waisteline.😊

Thank you for these drink ideas for improving liver health! Can you recommend the top 5 foods next?

I am grateful for your videos. You speak a great deal about beverages: coffee and tea, especially. However, I only wish you would clarify, in your videos, if decaf tea and decaf coffee have the same benefits. Not all of us drink caffeine.
  • My acupuncturist (doctor from China) had me stop green tea because I have issues with my stomach. I do drink Oolong, black tea and just began drinking Pu-Erh which I find I like the best of all of them. I'm a coffee person but have been drinking tea for overall health issues. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
  • Thank you for a great video! My doctor's office made it sound like fatty liver was not a big deal since it's common. I'm looking forward to hearing about the foods that can help!
