Previous videos on this Van:
1.    • Towed In! Died on Highway! (Engine is...
2.   • BIG PROBLEM! Perfect Solution ($6000 ...

This one is a bit different! Most of you are used to finding horrendously failed engines being torn down on this channel just to salvage parts and find out what happened. In this case, this engine is being saved!
This 3.6L Pentastar V6 is from a 2011 Chrysler Town and Country with only 121k. It was replaced due to failing a leak down test for pitted valve seats, it otherwise ran just fine. I received this engine back as a core for a good engine I sold and thought it would be wasteful to dismantle for parts.
Flash forward nearly 2 years and after talking with my good friend Ray @Rainmanraysrepairs about a Van that was towed into his shop with a blown up engine, the plan started. The van, owned by the Tosi Family is one of two of their modes of transportation. As a family of 7, they are now stuck driving their Nissan NV van which isn't the best on gas. Ray and I hatched this plan to use this core engine, if viable, repair it, ship it down to Florida so Ray could install it and the family could have their van back. We are using our resources, the things we do every day, to help out this family.

Why am I doing this? My name is Eric and I own and run a full service auto salvage business and part of our model includes dismantling blown up or bad engines and selling the parts that are still good. We do not rebuild engines, merely supply parts to those who do. This is a special case where I can use parts from a previous teardown and an engine without major issues to build one good engine. Not something I do often!

I really hope you enjoyed this video and if you'd like to see the progress on this engine please subscribe to this channel and Rainmanrays channel as the entire process will be shared across both channels.

As always I love all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism. Catch you on the next one!

-Eric

  • The closer this project gets to completion the more excited I’m getting! I can’t wait to get the van back into the hands of the Tosi family!
  • @TosiFamilyHope
We are absolutely floored by you and Ray's kindness and generosity in doing this for our family. I cannot thank you enough.
  • This is exactly what the car community needs. Instead of ridiculous videos of idiots doing donuts in an intersection crashing into each other!.. It's a total breath of fresh air to watch two guys teaming up to help a family in need.
  • Thanks! I made the same gesture to Ray and he has said all donations received will go to the Family. You are free to do whatever you think best. Buy parts to build the engine or donate. The only thing I ask is that I want that Water Pump as a souvenir. You and Ray are very kind and caring people, and that is something we all need.
  • I'm a crusty old man, skeptical by nature, passive aggressive in action, nasty attitude old Navy nuke. What you two guys are doing brought a tear to my eye this afternoon and that ain't easy. Bless you two.
  • @ivertranes2516
Now THIS is what YouTube collaboration should be about. Good on you and Ray!
  • @daviddhulst1513
When you give the van back to the family, you and Ray should make a video of the presentation. That would be a treat.
  • @Strykenine
The crossover that will make my weekend. Thanks Eric and Ray!

    edit: Doing God's work boys.

The actions of two men with class. You men rule.
  • @genedunn9283
Thanks to both you and Ray for making such a kind gesture. It’s wonderful that you are both donating your time, money, and parts to help a family that surely sounds like that need it!
  • @maxcactus7

Angels do exist... They live among us.... And they do awesome, incredible things for unsuspecting people. May abundance of blessings come to you.

There's too much selfishness these days, online and in the "Real World" these days, so when my two favorite YouTube people go to this length to do something positive to help those in need, it is truly heart warming. Thanks guys.
  • @kengray5793
I have watched both of these channels for a while now and this project just proves to me that these guys are stand up men. God bless you both for doing this for this family.
  • As a registered nurse with a wife going through cancer treatment, chemotherapy is the roughest thing you'll ever endure in your life.
Well done and thank you for taking care of this family.
  • @ronsimpson143
It is awesome that the two of you decided to help this family. I have been in the position where it felt like the whole world was lined up to kick me in the crotch. A helping hand is a godsend.
  • For ten years or so before covid hit, I worked on cars for my church where we did repairs and donated cars to single moms and families in need. I only say that because I know how good it feels to help people get reliable transportation. I learned a lot about working on cars in the process. If you have an opportunity to volunteer help, I think you'll be glad you did.
