The patience one has to have for boat and especially engine upkeep is immense.
  • Don't forget you have to align the drive train now that you changed engine mounts. This is done by loosening the shaft then using feelers to measure the gap as you turn shaft. It is adjusted at engine mount level
  • Sam, I just wanted to say a quick thank you for inspiring me to get into sailing. I bought a boat this year and I’m loving every minute of it. My background in adventuring was of the 2-wheeled motorcycling variety, but since starting a family that’s not really possible. Sailing and getting out on the water has opened my eyes to the adventures just outside my door, and allows me to enjoy it with my family. My son will grow up learning the joys of the water, and in no small part that’s down to you. Many thanks my dude! From Cornwall, UK.

I did not realize how much I missed seeing you tackle all these projects till I saw this. That year in NC was a great series.
  • Thanks Sam for showing the rest of us what is possible with desire to pursue goals and willingness to learn.

Its relaxing to watch your videos Sam, your coolness, seeing you swim in the middle of the Atlantic by yourself, tackling the boat issues, etc etc. You and Popeye!, true blue water sailors! :trophy-yellow-smiling::trophy-yellow-smiling:
  • I sure do enjoy your programming. Thank you for a few minutes of distraction from the worries of the day.
  • Good morning.. Skipper Sam Holmes. Good job, that Dory girl is like new, appreciate it because she takes you everywhere. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Pickled Hering looks great! I bet it was a lot of hard work but you must be happy its done and your back on the water. Be safe my friend, good sailing!🎉⛵
  • I am a mr fixit type but I was very impressed with your motor mount replacement. That was out of my league. So cool.
  • typo repair: 26:51 - NOW THAT'S a proper view for when you're taking a break. "CHEERS!" And worth another look. 30:00 - back on the water! Malta might be one of the coolest-looking destinations I've seen on more than one YouTube sailing channel. Good onya, Sam.
  • Your level of patience is amazing. Every time I go in my engine compartment the swearing starts and I say I will never do the work again- just pay someone. They never make the compartments the right size.
  • Your depth of knowledge is impressive and coupled with your can-do attitude and tenacity at tackling any job, your results and progress seem endless. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures!
  • Sam, your boat looks great! It's good that you're very handy and can do many jobs on your own. I look forward to watching a season of Sam Holmes Sailing.
  • Tackling the engine mounts on your own- I’m impressed
  • Great job doing it yourself, chainplates mainsail and yanmar feet. So many don’t and man there goes the budget and the independence spirit. Respect , you’ve come a long long way in so many ways - priceless.. can be fun separating the drive shaft in order to feeler guage the alignment but hey that’s the final and farsighted job!
  • Great to see your adventures Sam and good to see you get the maintenance caught up.
  • If you ever need to change the motor mounts again, you may find it easier to remove the 2 bolts from the block and the 2 lag bolts from the stringers. Then you only have to lift the engine about a 1/4”. Always enjoy your videos….

I really like your energy always positive even when you get frustrated you quickly move on and do what has to be done. The boat looks great, good job!
  • @Captkman
I cannot tell you how happy I am that you finally fixed that sail. Whatever disorder I have made it very difficult for me to watch you sail your boat with the sail not fully extended....lol. Also, your water line looks great.
