As described in Matti Friedman’s "Spies of No Country,” in the fight for a Jewish homeland, Israel’s first spies gathered essential intelligence, laying the groundwork for the Mossad.

Among them were Gamliel Cohen and Isaac Shoshan, who showed relentless bravery, infiltrating enemy lines and blending into the Arab world in daring efforts that were crucial for Israel’s survival.

About Explainers: From ancient Jewish traditions to the modern State of Israel, we explain it all. Diving into anything and everything related to Jewish culture, history, and even religion.
Understand Jewish holidays, Israeli politics, Jewish diasporic communities, and more. Learn about Judaism in pop culture, debunking myths about Jews, and explore obscure Israeli landmarks. We’re asking questions as basic as “What is the Talmud?”, and as obscure as “How did hip-hop boost Kosher wine sales?”, and everything in between.

About Unpacked: We provide nuanced insights by unpacking all things Jewish. People are complex and complicated — yet we’re constantly being pushed to oversimplify our world. At Unpacked we know that being complex makes us more interesting. Because of this, we break the world down with nuance and insight to drive your curiosity and challenge your thinking.

People often miss a very important point, most of Israeli jews are indistinguishable from Arabs save for their clothing. And since many middle easten jews spoke arabic quite well, posing as Arabs was quite simple

The Sephardim are excellent working behind the scenes and the Ashkenazim as upfront leaderships, together they’re a very strong team of players. It’s the power of Jewish diversity.

I went on pilgrimage and got stuck with a guide who reeaalllly hated Israel (despite holding an Israeli passport) and who had no love for Jews. That being said, he was obsessed with Eli Cohen and couldn't sing his praises loudly enough.

You showed a picture of the wrong Mosque in Haifa. The one with the minarets is a peaceful community. The one you referred to is the Istiqlal mosque in downtown.

Lebanese people aren’t really Arab, btw. Though they speak Arabic, they are actually descended from the Phoenicians.
