What a great coincidence that YouTube and Jordan Peterson happen to exist at the same time.
  • Yes. This guy is one of the finest minds on the planet today. Thank God he has a platform for people to hear him from.

When dealing with my feelings of bitterness and thinking that I was angry with the other person in reality it was me knowing I should have left the situation long before that moment and I was really angry with myself because I knew better.

For six long years I have been living in chaos, the moment that the ice broke for me was when I lost my relationship with my children during my divorce and lost everything I had worked for for the previous 30 years. I hope one day I will find my way out of darkness and see the light which brings me up for air again.

Failure of complexity management is absolutely true. I quit a miserable day job in 2013. My husband retired in 2018. We downsized, sold a too-big house that sucked up every spare dime and every spare minute, and reduced our "stuff" by 90 percent. The past 3 years have been the happiest of our lives.

When you hear truths that are core to our being, you recognize them immediately even though you never thought of them before. Jordan is so good at bringing forth these basic truths.

He really nails it at 2:00 for people who get overwhelmed by life or a big life changing event. His professional acknowledgement that some of life's big problems are extremely difficult to bear, even to the point of breaking a person, is very useful and empowering. Is reassuring to know you're not losing your marbles, you are are dealing with legitimate duress, sometimes of unknown duration. Despair, hopelessness, futility, etc are normal reactions; you are struggling to keep your head above water amidst chaos.

“There’s no way out, man. You can choose wretched death A...or slightly less wretched death B.” —J.P., with love.
  • I find myself watching his videos everyday. He has helped me with depression

And you get into your mid-50s, you've lost a 20 yr., loving wife to a long terminal illness, lost a few businesses, your home, your possessions, then several breakups you really worked at and it's no wonder you end up sleeping in your car during the hysterics of a pandemic. In winter. You just try to get thru the day.

9:23 "Things fall apart... Just entropy." 9:36 "And things fall apart of their own accord." 10:39 "And so, that's the idea behind the notion that there are two reasons that things fall apart: (1) Thermodynamic entropy, and (2) the proclivity of people NOT to attend to things that they know they should attend to."

Peterson is a very skilled educator, that and the information he has to offer is the basis of his success.

As a result of listening to Peterson, I listened to an English translation of "Gulag Archipelago". I learned a great deal that I didn't already know about history. Thanks Dr. Peterson. You are a great teacher.
