'The Thing' 'Alien' and 'The Terminator' were game changers in the sci-fi genre because they all had a very distinct visceral impact that still jolts you to this day.

1st. this is one of the greatest horror films ever made.

One of the few movies that is already so perfect it should not be messed with or remade. Ever.

Watched it in an empty cinema and stayed in to watch it three times over (one could do that in the uk at the time). Day after I convinced two of my school mates to wag school to sneak in the fire exit and we also watched it three times. They were as blown away as I was. A perfect film, up there with the very best of e'm. In my opinion of course. 👊

Wow. I went to the theater twice and saw this in 82. The deleted scenes were great

It would be great if they would bring out a totally uncut version of The Thing, there seems to quite alot of unseen footage.

We need a sequel.... A truly great sequel where The Thing escapes the Antarctic and makes it to a populated military base in the mainland. There is no escape. No hope of stopping it as The Thing multiplies across the face of the earth and absorbs every biological lifeform. A true dystopian ending of the end of mankind.

These extra scenes should be in the movie. The more the merrier
  • The thing with The Thing is that it is not a thing, it is the Thing.

Not one single female in this movie except the voice of the chess computer that Mcreedy dumped his scotch drink onto!

Saw this at the drive in the day it came out. Fantastic. My favorite movie. Just incredible all around. Carpenter is way ahead of the curve and missed the boat in his directing.
  • Can't believe it flop if it did well we would have gotten the sequel one of the greatest horror films ever made perfect film

There is a single player video game that continues the where this story left off and if you liked the movie the video game is worth the play. I actually jumped many times while playing it as it is dark and spooky. You play a character from yet another expedition that discovers the destroyed camp and go through similar scenarios that these characters do as the plot unfolds learning what happened to the camp.
  • I remember this movie giving me nightmares lol. The original short story was a good read also!
