We use “estar” for a temporary status depending on a different circumstances, for example “Olin está contento”. We use “ser” to express a permanent quality of the subject/person/etc. For example, “Olin es alto”.

Hi Olin, I really like your name. Your glasses are slaaaaay, and can you drop your skincare routine please? Also if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?
-
Estar “es temporary” is how I remember it.

Unfortunately, I don't speak Spanish. On the other hand, I am fluent in French as well as English and my mother tongue, Indonesian. Like Spanish, Italian and French have the same root language, which is Latin. I think the quickest way to learn is to understand the conjugation part (1st singular, 2nd singular, 3rd singular, 1st plural, 2nd plural, 3rd plural). If you understand these parts, you can then move on to the past and future tenses. Also, i think there is gender related to noun in Spanish just like french which is one of the challenging part if you are an English speaker just like me.

Nice video Olin, out of curiosity - what do you do for employment / work?

Did you see the eclipse?

I'm intrigued. It's Canada, so why Spanish rather than French ?
