Completed Shop Tour! Reckless Wrench Garage

Published 2022-07-10
The new shop and home of the Reckless Wrench Garage is completed! I built a 30x60 pole barn and turned it into my dream garage. This is a quick shop tour in the future workspace of many projects to come.

If anyone thinks about spray foaming their shop, install house wrap before steel goes on so that it can be replaced when needed

I looked at having my shop spray foamed, but could not justify the costs. I stayed expanda foam from cans to make it air tight, then rolled R19 fiberglass in my 2x6 16" on center studding. Then I blew 24" of fiberglass in the attic on top of 4mil plastic as a vapor/corrosin barrier. I then covered all the walls with 4 mil clear plastic using cap nails as staples don't seem to hold well. I can wash vehicles without ever getting the insulation wet, and is added to the air tight construction. I love the ability to keep my shop cold or warm. I did more labor, but saved $3K plus and got a better R value. Nice shop.

I remember these builds you are showing. I have a Ranger that I want to do a SPOA on. You have come so far!!
  • I really enjoyed the rawness of our original videos. It was super DIY but you made some cool stuff. I hope you continue on with that theme even though you have a may more legit set up. Congrats man!
  • Iโ€™m sure the lift is on the to do listโ€ฆ congrats on the new shop! Goals right here!!!
  • This was kinda surreal. I gave up access to a decent sized shop to free up the time to build my truck in my driveway, out of my tiny garage with a borrowed welder. Luckily my neighbors have been really cool.
  • Good to see the channel back up and running. Keep up the great work and awesome content!

Shop looks amazing! I would like to see your dualsport adventures too!
  • Some real good ideas here. Itโ€™s always a work in progress.
  • So glad to see you back on YouTube. You need a fresh air system for the compressor. Just a few holes and a mesh to filter the air coming in. Or you will suffer from water in the air lines.

I like the video. I'm waiting on materials to be dropped off on our property for a 32x48x12 shop. Haven't had a tree to work under for almost 7 years now. I'll be overwhelmed as the last garage was 24x32x8. I'm excited to say the least. It's a lot of money but will make our lives much more enjoyable. Mostly mine because I work on the vehicles and our home has lacked tremendously on storage. And we can get the toys out of the weather.

Congratulations on the awesome shop! If I can make one recommendation itโ€™s to make sure you have multiple large fire extinguishers throughout the garage. Half ass customs channel is an example of how quickly everything can be lost.
  • Chris your new shop is awesome. Come a long way from the driveway in Albuquerque. Keep on wrenching and STAY RECKLESS

That garage project came out amazing! I ride KTMs also! I think you'd appreciate 2 mini splits in that space, especially to battle the Texas heat! I'm guessing two 3 ton units would do it!

    I'm envious. That's a beautiful shop.
