Restored via ai music magic - and delivered to you during standard working hours as defined by our employment contracts - comes this obscure 50s vinyl record from Big Shoe Johnson and The Cobblers. Johnson, a former office worker known for his smooth tones and outrageously large shoe, was a hit in both the Detroit music scene and with the ladies. “The shoe stays on,” Clyde Ruxpin of The Cobblers said in an interview with The Detroit Free Press. “That was his policy.” But after a tragic car accident took Johnson’s life in the early 60s, the autopsy results would send shockwaves through all of Michigan. “He had a normal sized foot all that time!” Ruxpin noted. “Just filled it out with socks. But hey, if it works, it works. Never heard a lady say a bad word about him. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.”

Lyrics:

F**k off, that's not my job

Boss at work just fired six folks (out the door, you're god damn broke)
Now he's ridin' my a$$ like an old cowpoke (he's got the reigns, I'm in the yoke)
He says now I gotta do twice the work
But he can go to hell, he's a dimwit jerk
Cause

F**k off that's not my job
You sit there all day like a lazy slob
Unless you're gonna pay me twice the cash
(You can shove your overtime right up your a$$!)

(F**k off, that's not my job)(F**k off, that's not my job)

Boss don't like my attitude (ain't nobody work here, what's he gon do?)
I say if he don't like it he can fire me too (rather sleep on a bench than work for you)
He says he's under a lot of stress
I say I don't give a damn I'm not your therapist
Cause

F**k off that's not my job
You sit there all day like a lazy slob
It ain't my fault that you're a numbnuts jerk
(And for the first time in your life your a$$ has got to work!)

(F**k off, that's not my job)

More sales calls? (that's not my job)
Cleanin' the halls? (that's not my job)
More reports? (that's not my job)
Mail to sort? (that's not my job)
Unless you're gonna pay me what I'm worth
(Then I hope this place burns down into the dirt)
(F**k off, that's not my job)

I'm bookmarking this to send to my boss as my resignation letter when I win the lottery.
  • My uncle took me to see BIG SHOE JOHNSON AND THE COBBLERS in Poughkeepsie in 1963. It was a very special experience.
  • @Tony3am
My grandpappy used to love this song, got drunk and played it until dawn on the weekends.😂😂
  • Damn it this slaps so hard! Right up there with taking a shit on the company’s dime!

"I'd rather sleep on a bench than work for you" mumbled under the breath by most everyone at one time or another.

The production is spot the F on. The arrangement, the sounds of the rooms, the sound of the instruments, the vocals and harmonies and the mix are all pure 50s. It just sounds like it was remastered from a very well preserved source. The only thing i can see to make it peehaps sounds even more authentic is a mono mix. Bravo!
  • I think the Coasters used to cover this back in the late 50’s.

This is why I love my job. It's actually frowned upon in my workplace if a boss just sits behind a desk all day. The building manager will actually have a talk with those supervisors that are lazy. One guy actually resigned after getting a tongue lashing!
  • Man. The classic easy office relaxing lounge music of an by gone area. Great it's making a comeback.
  • The most satisfying thing I ever said was f off I quit. And man it felt good.
  • I was lucky. My boss had this attitude and extended the benefits of it to us when dealing with the higher brass :) Miss him.
  • I remember great granddad sitting in his chair listening to the song. It did not occur to me then but these lyrics are so real. Thanks for the upload.

I gotta find a way to play this over the emergency intercom.
  • I remember seeing them perform this classic on American Bandstand...😅
