Awesome video! I have several MN78, one MN99s, and plan on getting the MN82. All of them need upgrades to improve performance and reliability. I appreciate this information.
  • Nice mod. Its even better if you do the brushless mod and all the electronic
  • very nice explanantion. im just waiting for my mn82 to arrive.. changing the motor sure my 1st thing to do
  • Great video. It's too much to hope for I guess but I wish the "industry" would standardize a few things like labeling their motors. I just ordered a truck off of Banggood and your mods are helping me decide what to do with it when it arrives...months from now 🙂

Just found you and subscribed. Great informative videos. Thank you.

Just received my MN82 today, ok woah they've replaced the motor driver from the MN9x boards, it used to be the TA6586 5A continuous, 7A peak with the SA8336 which can handle 7A continuous, 14A peak (if you can trust chinese datasheet), with a bottom heatsink pad, both are pin compatible but if you want to be able to heatsink it, you'll have to solder it upside down so you can stick a heatsink below lol

Hello and thank you again for the great guide. I've made the motor change. Motor is working fine and smooth but when I connect it with the wheels, the wheels are tugging. I've tried to turn the joint with wheels and it seems to helps but I'm not sure if it is as the original state. So I would like to ask you if am I correct that it is necessary to correctly set (turn correctly) the plastic (original) connection to the motor. Thank you very much in advance.

One more thing bro, could you tell me what is the motor driver IC on the MN82 stock ESC/receiver? I saw TA6586 on the MN9x/MN78 board, is it still the same? It's the DIP-8 chip next to the motor connector. Trying to figure out the max amp draw I can safely pull through the stock electronic (if it's the same, datasheet says 5A continuous and 7A max but may need heatsinking on the motor ouput legs)

Lastly, it just occured to me but do we need that spacer/adapter? Otherwise can't we just drill 2 holes on the plastic housing and use a more standard 10-11.5mm shaft motor?

I also measure the stock motor RPM, it's about 18k RPM at 7.4V, so the output RPM is about 1000RPM with a 1:18 reduction

Great video, thanks for the info, may I ask how you manage to push the mn82 metal pinion gear into the long shaft 370 motor? Just by brute force? Because the 370 motor for the wpl 2 speed gearbox comes with an 8-teeth pinon, not the 10-teeth pinon like in your video.
