The reality of the US going into isolationism, the European Union will have to be self-sufficient, and for that more efficient in their unified policies.

The veto in the Council of European Union needs to be changed to a quality majority voting(QMV). We cannot have a single country (e.g. Hungary) blocking an initiative while all the other member states were in favour.

The main problem is that the EU has four presidents: The president of the commission is the most powerful and head of the executive branch, the highest representative is something like a head of state and the the president of the parliament and the president of the European council are heads of the legislative branch.
  • @DaemonOF
Absolutely! Very excited to see how this evolves going forward šŸ˜ƒ

For sure. More europe is what we need, but not in all aspects.
  • You finally included Ireland in the EU map thumbnail šŸ˜„
  • I hope to one day see a United States of Europe. I find that I indentify more with my european identity than national one.

I like the idea, it depends on the how's of it all.
  • Lets be honest: Who in Latvia is interested in voting for a german candidate ? What kind of polarisation will we see if there is a runoff election between a candidate from France and from germany or from west- and eastern Europe ? Direct elections will create polarisation and chaos! If you want more connection between the people and EU citizens: Let them vote for the EU parliament through national lists, and give the EU parliament more power.

How EU will manage the sneakier way that some EU countries to bring outsider countries interest over the interest over other EU countries. Like Germany did with the energy deals with Russia. Also Austria allowing Russian companies to invest under Austrian brand taking over many corporations in Easter Europe EU members. Also some countries in Europe still have strong ties with the former colonies and those interest are overlapping with third parties countries and even EU countries which will create contradiction in EU. Also in defense and big projects of interest for Europe will be an effective collaboration without friction and corruption or preference for some brands of certain countries to provide contracts? .

Interesting talk and explanation of a vision of a stronger Europe. I strongly relate to his points. However, I belive that Van der Leyen is the wrong leader for it. She is good at balancing the different fractions in the EU in a pro european way. I think she isnt a bad pick for the EU today, but certainly not the best. We need change. And we need a real character that our citizen feel strongly about and can rally behind.

I like that italian man tho and he explains all quite well. But i wonder how quick or how slow all this is going to change. Hopefully i can experience this still during my life time, because as we know, some things can get very bumpy to set up some new treaties in some countries. We shall see, i stay curious. • How do you deal with languages? English is not mandatory or encouraged in the workplace. No common tongue, no integration. EU will always be divided.
