Minecraft Hunger Games, or as it was also known as survival games, was once minecrafts most popular gamemode and thousands of servers we're set up to run it. One server in particular, MCSG or MCGamer Network pioneeered the survival games we see today. But what happened to survival games?
Just noticed a mistake, at 1:52 its mean't to say April the 17th 2012, not 2020.

og-sg.net/: As of today I have created my own server called OGSG where I plan to revive all of the OG minecraft gamemodes. And we have just released survival games, heavily inspired by MCSG, with no kits or pay2win elements. Check us out! Server ip is og-sg.net/ So what do you guys think of modern day hunger games? What I miss the most is the OG MCSG. I would play that for hours way back in the day. My favorite part of that sever was the huge maps with 48+ players! I wish those large MCSG maps came back.
  • Omg, the spawns used to have pistons that pushed you up, that is like a whole nostalgia factor there jeez.
  • @skrim7522
"There was an issue with the pistons not pushing up" If you read catching fire you know what happened
  • @rubyrobotic
oh, the nostalgia. i remember playing with my siblings years ago. whenever we were the last survivors we'd toss out our weapons and beat each other to death with raw fish

I remember the episode form Bajan Canadian's channel when everyone basically freaked out when he made the diamond chestplate because diamonds were that rare

I think the kits/classes ruined Survival Games (like on McCentral where a few people have diamond helments and almost all enchanted armor and usually wins) and fishing rods are lowkey annoying. Also, does anyone know what happened to Vareide?

Rest in piece MCGAMER, really wish chad had the money to keep it going, that server used to be everything

The most nostalgic game for me inMinecraft is definitely the other gamemode known as Hunger Games, or later: "The Hardcore Games". McPvP ran the servers and they were massive. There was lots of different strategies and so on with all the kits. Used to play every day when I was young. Just so sad ut doesn't exist no more
  • Seeing the amount of people in the comments agreeing with you, we really should all start our own server tournament and play OG Hunger Games together.
  • The only good hunger games without kits and abilities are filled with hackers its so sad

4:30, I can vividly remember all these old MCSG maps and I feel such a meloncholy fondness for them. 6 or 7 years ago, with a much younger me, 12 or 13 years old, and I'm skyping with random online friends I've made through MCSG, playing Minecraft until dawn.
  • “Some of you minecraft players should have played on this server once” Dude, MCSG is my entire childhood!
  • @TheMarinara
The Nexus was a really good server for hg too
  • @CAEC64
I noticed that Survival Games have decreased in popularity, a lot of people plays Skywars instead.

how it could be helped 1. no kits. kits were a mistake. we do not look back on kits or abilities 2. longer games with more players per game. the fun i found personally in hg was how it lasted a while and hunger was an actual problem that you could die from 3. some new maps. the variede and classic maps, while being really great, are ancient and some new maps would be needed alongside them 4. bounties/sponsors. a points system where you can spend your points to put a point bounty on someone/give them food or arrows, nothing major just small things that wouldn't give an unfair advantage while benefiting them. and bounties would be someone gets more points for killing them 5. teams not being bannable. during quarantine i have played A LOT of hg servers and most of them ban teams where most of the friends i made on mcsg were from us teaming and that was the best part 6. no fishing rods. i just hate fishing rods they are THE WORST those are just my thoughts, however and it probably couldn't happen

imo the charm of sg is that chests are random and you actually dont know what you’re gonna get but with crates and kits - kits literally give you a set of items, and the crates on mc central are ugh, you’re almost guaranteed to get a diamond helmet and some iron armor pieces if you have them maxed out, it’s honestly unfair for the new players who are actually trying for the first time, it’s honestly just odd
  • @Caspianm2
Back in the day, when you had to google a constantly generating server list with literally HUNDREDS of players just plopped down onto a regular minecraft world with a compass that showed the nearest player.
