Literally any other team: lead car gets dibs on pit stops first. McLaren: we prefer the unnecessary drama.
  • Oscar is not at fault for this. Lando is not at fault for this. Mclaren caused this, and somehow made the most bittersweet 1-2 finish in f1 history
  • @Soutar3DG
They should have pitted Oscar first and then allowed them to race on track, if Lando could overtake on track then so be it rather than team orders.

It's 100% another bad McLaren strategy call. They are just lucky the car is so good and Max was having a rough race.
  • @KingchooRS
"So Lando, think abour Oscar's sad face." I said the same thing too 😅 EDIT: I'm glad you said it lad, Lando doesn’t deserve the hate he got from this.

As a big and long time McLaren fan, today was just... there's no excuse for it honestly. You can't blame Oscar or Lando for this one, this was 100% on the team for mismanaging the race. IMO, the only way this should've played out today was McLaren bringing in Oscar first on the second round of stops, pitting Lando the lap after and letting them race to the end, that way they both get a fair shot for the win and if Lando is able to catch Oscar then fair play he takes the win. Got to be the saddest and most bittersweet 1 - 2 finish in recent years, feel for both drivers as the team put them in an impossible situation today.
  • Absolutely disgusting of Mclaren to put Norris in that position then treat him like that on public radio after the loyalty he's shown to that team through their terrible cars and strategy calls.
  • @luca3493
Those radio messages from Will Joseph to Lando were extremely uncomfortable to listen to. They felt so manipulative, and condescending towards both Lando and Oscar. I think both those drivers deserved the win today - but not like this. McLaren really messed up.
  • @HoopleHeadUSA
This isn’t Oscar. This isn’t Lando. This is on McLaren strategy to step up and perform at the level their drivers and cars are
  • All of that could of been avoided if they put Oscar first since he was originally in the league. Norris has been catching the leader by seconds in the 2nd half of the last few races. I’m sure he would of been find fighting off Lewis had they put Oscar first
  • @markgr1nyer
I would hate for my first win to have been handed to me like that. It's not fair on either Lando or Oscar. They both deserve better
  • @hyprz5
For someone who just got their first race win, you’d expect Oscar to be screaming and cheering when he crossed the line, i guess it felt like he couldn’t savour the victory in that moment
  • @mobuckey
As a McLaren fan I’m so confused. Love our drivers and team but this situation was so unnecessary and unsatisfying. Can’t believe this was a 1-2 finish for us because the vibe is off this week. Oscar and Lando are both excellent drivers capable of winning races on merit while having respectful competitive driving between them. Lets trust them and stop overthinking.
  • This is not racing!! It is manipulation,, How can Oscar enjoy his first win? The race was not at all enjoyable.
  • @DarthM3
McLaren was an amazing joke today.
  • @tobycc3469
they realised fucking one of the most liked drivers on the grid would be bad for business
