Well, I'll tell you what. When I was kid my Dad and Mom both drank...alot. I couldn't bring friends home after school because Dad might be passed out on the floor. He recovered when I was about 15. He was the bravest man I ever knew or ever will. Mom followed his example and also got sober forever. I'm 72 now. I miss them both everyday. They tucked me in at night. Put a roof over my head and good food on the table every night. I always loved them and always will. I miss and honor their memory everyday.

I appreciate very much that he didn't change any lyrics. Often when a cover is done by someone of the opposite sex as the original artist, there are some lyric changes if gender comes up in the song. Luke kept "So I work in the market as a checkout girl" and I love it. I ADORE the original and I love this cover.

I wish nothing but a huge congratulations to Luke and Tracy Chapman for this cover hitting #1 on country radio. Both versions are great, and to think this is the first country cover of a pop hit to go #1 since 2008 (Blake Shelton's cover of "Home") is crazy!
