The Scion was marketed to the young generation and the old generation ended up buying it, instead.

My daughter has a 2009 Kia Rio. When we bought it, I did some research, and found that this era of Kia and Hyundai is a sweet spot for these 4 cylinder cars. The engine was improved, and they did a lot to improve the automatic transmission. It now has 155,000 miles and it runs smooth, doesn't burn oil, and the transmission still shifts great. I think that the car was well cared for, which makes all of the difference, but it was at a reasonable price, and available during the pandemic so we bought it.

I bought the scion xB the boxy looking one. Standard shift. With 100,000 miles on it 6 years ago. Now I have 310,000 miles on it and all I have done is oil changes, and tires. Original clutch, brakes radiator alternator. Hasn't missed a beat.
  • Who's car is that clean inside after 15 years?? Wow, look at that headliner, immaculate!

I love my Kia Forte, 2013 model. Great mileage, plenty of space in the cabin for my wide shoulders. I've had a Corolla and a Civic previously and felt somewhat squished next to the driver's door. But it runs like a champ. And it's paid for!
  • NO WONDER WHY YOU HAVE ALMOST 7 MILLON SUBSCRIBERS...... BECAUSE YOU ARE GREAT !!!!!!!!!. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS, YOU ARE CRISTAL CLEAR CLARITY. LOVE YOU !!!!!!!!

I bought a 2005 Ford Freestyle for 1800 bucks 2 yrs ago. It had 182,000 miles when I bought it. Now it has 234,000. Doesn't use any oil, change it every 5000, doesn't leak anything. Has tons of pick up and runs great. I'd like you to look at it someday Scotty. She's got a few small dings. But runs like a charm! And all original but the rack n pinion, and air conditioner. They were replaced. Gets 23 to 24 mpg on highway, 17 to 18 in town. Not bad.
  • From a personal experience, the Ford Expedition is an excellent family car. As Scotty put it, it drives like a dream…just close your eyes on the gas consumption thing and you probably have one of the best cars in its category .
  • @kclefthanded427
I'm not so sure about the Ford vehicles with the 5.4 liter 3-valve V-8 but they could still be good engines if you change the oil religiously. It will not tolerate neglected oil changes

I bought a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT new off the showroom floor and never, never had a problem with it except fuel pump twice. I drove it 258,000 miles till it just made a loud noice and quit running. I loved it… but couldn’t afford another new but would like to find a nice used low miles one day. I live in Utah and most used are trashed by now.

Once again, Scotty, another great video. I have a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer bought in December of 2007 it has the V6 engine 4.0 and has 130k miles on it. I has been a great car this December it will be 17 years old and I love it. I had very few problems radiator was leaking and the thermostat casing that is garbage is plastic
  • @fatratz2012
I got a 2010 forte with 147000 on it still going strong I hated it at first coming from a 2009 EOS which ran good too until a 16 yo girl in an f25 ran a stop sign hence the kia I miss the luxury though
  • @LesReeves
Your Celica was a real head turner in Australia they (with a manual gearbox )went like a scalded cat(sorry to cats) & looked good too even up to the last model.
  • @benchattin
PSA: Those Expeditions with the 3V 5.4 Triton V8s can be good engines if they were maintained well, namely oil changes. That generation, 2007-2014, only had the 5.4. Cam-phasers, "2 piece" spark plugs, timing guides, and weak oil pumps are just some of the issues that plague this engine. It's not necessarily the cars fault that the owners are negligent, because most of the major issues of the 5.4 can be remedied through routine 3k to 5k oil changes. However, buying one of these at a corner lot with 3, 4, or more owners in it's history with 150k miles is a straight up gamble. You can put new phasers in but a lot of times mechanics just recommend a new engine.
