Always fascinating to see how a “natural” wild fire can melt everything in a house, but leave the surrounding trees standing.

It's kind of strange that the foliage isn't burned only the house is burned.

Swing and a miss on the homeowner watching home burn angle. Just report the facts on the fire and leave the victims alone--most importantly direction(s) of burn, expected fire path, wind speed, humidity, and resources deployed to fight it. That whole area at the base of the foothills east of Hwy 99/north of Chico has clusters of homes scattered throughout (ranchettes on 1 - 5 acre parcels) and a ton of dry grass/brush at this time year--that's why it burned 40,000 acres overnight. Will be very hard to contain if wind persists because there's so many directions it can spread and so much available fuel. At just 2 lanes, Hwy 99 isn't much of a firebreak.
