Air Defender 2023: The Sky's the Limit in NATO's Largest Air Drill | WELT Documentary

In their largest air exercise to date, "Air Defender 23," armed forces from a total of 25 nations, including NATO member states and other countries within European airspace, practiced their responsiveness. With thousands of soldiers and hundreds of aircraft of all types, they send a clear message: We are ready. The maneuvers test the operational capability of the air forces. Every operation is planned down to the smallest detail and is executed as realistically as possible. A challenging task.

A few incorrect claims in this documentary. The F-16 can't be refuelled by the A400M. F-16s have to use the refuelling boom system as used by the Boeing KC-135 and Airbus A330MRTT. The A330MRTT also has the hose and drogue system as well. One hose and drogue unit on each wing outboard of the engines and a centreline hose and drogue unit. The KC135 can also have a drogue hose attached to its boom. The claim that turbofan aircraft cannot deploy hose and drogue refuelling units is rubbish. The A330MRTT does and that system is routinely used. DW needs to sort out these false claims problems. It is obvious that the narration script wasn't written by people who have any idea about aviation. It's not just this video where it's quite noticeable but in many others that I have watched.
  • The capability to control the delivery of advanced technologies, such as the F-16 A2 and its integrated system components, is a critical aspect of national defense and security. These technologies represent cutting-edge advancements in aerospace and defense systems, offering unparalleled capabilities in terms of speed, agility, and lethality on the battlefield. One of the key features of these advanced systems is their ability to maintain control and oversight even in environments where reverse engineering or unauthorized replication may occur. Through sophisticated encryption, authentication, and proprietary software systems, these technologies are designed to prevent unauthorized access and replication, ensuring that the integrity and security of the systems remain intact. It's important to address the fear and uncertainty that may arise among nations when accepting and complying with the delivery of such advanced technologies. While there may be concerns about the means by which these technologies were acquired, such as through agreements or alliances, it's crucial to emphasize that the primary objective is to enhance collective security and deter aggression. The systems delivered are intended to protect life, preserve prosperity, and uphold the principles of sovereignty and self-defense for all nations involved. They are not intended to be used as tools of coercion or domination, but rather as instruments of peace and stability. Furthermore, it's essential to underscore that these technologies are not under the control of any single entity or individual acting unilaterally. Instead, they are governed by international agreements, protocols, and standards that ensure equitable access, transparency, and accountability among all participating nations. In essence, while there may be concerns about the origins or motives behind the delivery of advanced defense technologies, it's imperative to focus on the shared goals of enhancing security, promoting stability, and fostering cooperation among nations. By working together and leveraging the capabilities of these advanced systems, we can collectively address the real threats to our species, such as conflict, instability, and aggression, while striving towards a more peaceful and prosperous world for all.
