Finland – a country that has everything you can think of! From modern cycling lanes to a great public transport system. From newly-constructed apartments to beautiful historic buildings. From rain to snow (all in the same day, of course). What’s more? A comprehensive welfare system that makes everyone super happy! Doesn’t that sound amazing? But will it all stay the same or will the global warming turn the sparkly snow drifts into dirt? Watch my new video to find out!

Finland was directly a part of Sweden for over 600 years and later an autonomous grand duchy of Russia's Empire of tsar. The reason why Finland is a prosperous Nordic country with a high standard of living is simple. Finland was never under communism. Never a part of Soviet Union and never an eastern bloc country.

Amazing to see a Russian perspective on how clean it is, and what you pay attention to in Helsinki. As a native Helsinkian I really didn’t see it that way at all.

thank you so much. I see you have listened me: the Ilya's voice doesn't sound louder than the main English one anymore: it's signifyingly better now!

I think most of roofs are not heated just drown pipes but snow is removed manually from roofs when there is to much snow.

As a finn, its not first time to me to see intelligent russian, that I know there are so many. Culture and science of the country already expose that fact. Russia and russians are kinda mystery to me. I allways think that how so many of them tolerate the current government. Ofc answer is far from simple. U nail my emotions in the beginning of video: "Russians are good, Putin bad" or something like that. I am waiting so much the days when our eastern neighbour are truly free, I just can imagine all the contributions in- and out-country that they can achieve.

Finland is the best country to live in Europe. Never have seen such clean and confortable public transport, trains, airport. Such a chance to have escaped USSR !!

Finland has much stricter immigration policiesd than other European countries - which has something to do with their high standard of living. They've seen what a disaster Sweden's overly generous immigration policy has been and the Finns don't want to make the same mistake. Finns, Swedes, Danes and Norwegians who immigrated to the U.S. and Canada in the late 19th Century have been enterprising and financially successful. It's in the genes.

'Don't feed the birds'. Yeah. The birds can find their own food just fine. Don't encourage them.
  • It's about 400 km from Helsinki to St. Petersburg, not 30... Probably a translation error. BTW there used to be a similar railway station (designed by Herman Gesellius, who worked together with Eliel Saarine) in Vyborg, but soviet troops blew it up in 1941.

You can enter the metro from the inside of Kamppi mall thru the piss igloo
  • 48:00 Also it's funny because that area is seen as one of the ugliest in the cities central area because it's just concrete blocks
