I've been getting requests to do a Vampire Crab build for years! It's something I've wanted to do, but I held off until the time was right. I've been trying to get them since last year, but they haven't been available until early last month. I've been building the colony since and am happy to have finally finished their new home.

I'm so glad to have finally done this and I'm excited to share more in the future. Enjoy!

EDIT: The crab seen at 12:16 is likely a different species than what it was sold to me as (G. dennerle). Mixing species isn't ideal and will result in fighting, which I was aware of. I assumed it was just variation in color, but others have said otherwise. I'm going to separate it from the rest of the colony and closely observe the others to see if there are more imposters. Always something new to learn. 😅 So glad to have finally done a build for vampire crabs! What do you think and what else would you put in here? I have a few things in mind already, but I'm curious what you think. Let me know and have a great weekend SerpaSquad
  • You sir are the bob ross of botany and ecology when it comes to Aquariums, paladariums and etc.

To be completely honest, this is one of the most realistic paludariums i have ever seen. The black lava rock and the sand go really well with bright green plants and mosses, i love how it turned out. I would also say that the lights are at a perfect brightness, they still leave a lot of darkness for the crabs but illuminate the branches and plants sticking out of the background. One last thing is the branches, the way you placed them and made them look cohesive is beyond me. really good job, honestly.

Great to finally see a vampire crab build! I love all the branches they both give the crabs a means to avoid fights AND look amazing!
  • You and Dr. Plants are one of the few people who I’ve seen successfully house these amazing creatures! They’re famous for being one of the hardest animals to keep healthy and happy in captivity. Well done!
  • @TerraMagnus
Gorgeous! I’m definitely keen to see a follow up on this build to show the plants grown in and the crabs populating the space a bit more.
  • This is a magnificent ecosystem habitat. Museum quality, thatn you for the fantastic video, looking forward to seeing the baby crabs
  • Man this scape looks UNREAL! Such an underrated line of work.. and such an amazing form of art.
  • Dude, i really respect how you don’t just get an animal off people’s requests alone; you get one when the time is right. A lot of creators wouldn’t do that, and subsequently not be able to care for the animal in question right or in a sustainable manner. That takes some knowledge to do, and understanding of the art you practice Thank you for that; your animal husbandry, and respect for the animals are both just a breath of fresh air..

This is such a Tanner build, combining all the knowledge of paludariums with the waterfall concepts in your terrariums. So good!
  • Now I understand the week delay. Wow! It’s fabulous! What an amazing feature to display the vampire crabs. 🦀 I love how you create the environment to the animals needs. They will thrive and bring years of enjoyment to you. I hope you are enjoying this very Holy weekend. My hubby and I pray nightly for you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Jesus is our hope and I pray many will know Him and have peace. Much love ❤ from Alabama.

Nice to see a full vampire crab enclosure that satisfies their needs. I've been enjoying the channel Indoor Ecosystem for his care guides on various geosarma species and this is really next level

A video that 14:36 long contains sooo many hours/days of work! This is beautiful and I love the crabs! 🦀
  • At one point I created a waterfall in a 60 gallon “antique” Metaframe “show” tank. The aquarium was fairly shallow but extremely tall, it was a custom order tank back in the day with an aluminum frame and slate bottom. The scape and mechanics were similar with a “pond/pool” area at the bottom. My choice of plants & mosses was also similar with the addition of tiny ferns and miniature/micro-mini free-flowering Sinningia. After a few months I stocked it with Strawberry and Green & Black Dart Frogs and a solid white male Betta in the “pond”area. It was so relaxing just to sit and watch!
  • @LiquidJeM4031
Absolutely amazing man. I dont understand how you can just… make something like this. Mind blown
  • This is absolutely enrapturing. I love how much you care about even the tiniest bugs and mosses.
  • @Maltafea
I absolutely love the fact that you create THE PERFECT environment for the creatures you keep and let them thrive in natural enclosure rather than just a cop out with a bare tank!Love this channel!❤
  • @sarahcb3142
Thank you for including the common name of your plants with the Latin one! I used to have to search for the Latin name constantly to figure out which types of plants you were using so I appreciate the extra detail! Also, love the scape.

You sound like you smile while you talk and I love it
