   • U.S.A. For Africa - We Are the World

For the first time on the channel, we are checking out U.S.A. For Africa "We Are the World." I have never in my life seen so many legends and artists coming together at the same time for such a beautiful performance. Everyone from Michael Jackson and Ray Charles to Stevie Wonder and Tina Turner showed out on this one! I absolutely loved this and it had such a powerful and heartfelt message behind it! I appreciate each of you and hope you enjoy! #reaction #usaforafrica #wearetheworld #michaeljackson #brucespringsteen #willienelson #raycharles #steveperry

USA For Africa was a fundraiser single for famine relief in Africa. The song was written by Lionel Ritchie and Michael Jackson. The project was started by Harry Belafonte in response to the British charity song "Do They Know It's Christmas" with British artists. So many of these legends are no longer with us now. This song never fails to stir me! There is a full documentary here on YouTube about the making of this video. It happened after an awards show and that's why all of the artists were together. Quincy Jones put a sign on the door that told the artists to "leave their egos at the door". Even if you don't react to it I recommend watching it.
  • Michael wrote this song specifically for this. And all of these were together for Grammys. I think.

Dear Sir, You are somebody, your a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a friend..everyone is important in someone's life, just saying, thank you for the reaction. The guy before Ray Charles was James Ingram.

The Netflix documentary about how this whole project happened is called "The Greatest Night In Pop". It's amazing!
  • This is at least a billion dollars worth of talent in the studio and a sign that read "Leave your ego at the door."
  • @OneOddTodd63
This was recorded and filmed immediately after a music award show. So everyone was there. They just went to studio and hit and let the magic happen.

Netflix has a documentary on this, "The Greatest Night In Pop," that lays out how they did this and got people to show up. They picked the night of the AMAs (American Music Awards) to record, luring the stars (from many genres) since they were already at the awards. It's an interesting story that explains what went on and the hoops they had to jump through to get the song written and recorded.

They got together after the American Music Awards and recorded the song in one night
  • And I'm happy that as American we are still helping the world today. People are People... no matter where they are.. if people need help we should always help

ALL THE GOATS!!! Beautiful, Epic and chills everytime!!

This was late in the evening after an awards show so they were there most of the night. Before they started a lady from Ethiopia spoke about the famine and how grateful she was for all the talent that was gathered and willing to help. There wasn't a dry eye in the place.

Once you find out the names of the artists you don't know you need to react to them. Then 6 months or a year from now revisit this bideo. It will mean so much more.
