I like how Joel is bent over and looks insecure the entire time when talking to Ellie, but when he talks about how he’d “do it all over again” he stands up straight and confident, because the decision to save Ellie’s life is something he doesn’t regret, no matter how shitty it makes him feel.

Ellie: I’ll see you around. Joel: Yep. Me: 😭😭😭
  • The saddest thing about this scene is that, while on the mission the day after , Ellie told Dina she wanted to invite Joel over to watch a movie that night. Just imagine how happy he would have been...
  • The voice acting for Joel was perfect. You could feel the emotion and love in every word.

"I would do it...ALL over again" Goddammit I love Joel. He ruined his relationship with Ellie but he still feels in his heart he did the right thing. He didn't want to lose another daughter, he couldn't let Ellie die. And he stands by that.

Him knowing his decision ruined their relationship forever and still saying he would do it all over again just shows how much he loves her. He would rather live in a world where she hates him than live in a world without her. God this game ruined me.

I used to play tlou all the time with my dad. We was both so emotional when we saw this playthrough. My father told me, that has he been in Joel’s situation he would do the same for me and that he understod Joel and i would understand it once i become a father. This was my fathers favourite game and he often asked me when are we gonna play it again, even though we had completed it multiple times. He watched as i played for hours. My father passed away last week, and this game really has giving me a very strong connection. He died aged 60 only. Rest in peace papa i love you more than life itself❤️

4:04 that subtle guitar leading to Ellie’s “Okay” feels like a callback to the end of the first game.
  • "If somehow the Lord gave me a second chance at that moment, I would do it all over again". Eventhough everyone believes what Joel did was wrong, he firmly believes it was the right thing to do... Love this scene so much...

This scene made me so happy because it made me realise that Joel didn’t die thinking that Ellie hated him. Having their argument at the pairty be their final conversation would have been heartbreaking.

I'm replaying the first one and Ellie explicitly says her worst fear is ending up alone. 😭
  • @MADprime5
''I'd like that.'' to me, is the absolute most perfectly delivered line in the history of voice acting.

Ellie could never really understand Joel's decision until this conversation. In her mind, she believed Joel did something monstrous, something that took away the really meaning of her life as the only immune person. But when she hears him say that he would do it all over again, it clicks. Ellie's life mattered more to Joel than the lives of suffering humans around the world. If he could save his daughter from the humans that would take her away, he wouldn't hesitate. Seeing this, Ellie tries to allow the close relationship she once had with her father.

I’ve finished this game for a while now but I keep coming back to this scene over and over again. I can’t wait to see how Pedro and Bella play this out
  • Joel is the father we all wanted but never deserved. The father we all hope to be.
  • It kills me that Joel is playing "Helplessly Hoping" here. He's clearly upset after the night's earlier events and this song is the perfect way for him to express his grief. He's helplessly hoping Ellie can forgive him, and upon hearing that she would just at least like to try, he breaks. What a well written scene.
  • 3:56 He wants to hug her so bad. I can't even handle this game, man. I have a little girl of my own and I know EXACTLY what he's feeling in that moment.
  • @LittleSkyful
I cried like a baby at this scene.. I don't know why.. maybe because seeing him again was just this reminder he's gone for good. The relief and stress was gone and everything was just depressing. I liked the game, but it ended with an empty and sad feeling.
