  • I am 84 years old and lost my husband so I don’t cook anymore. After watching Rachel’s video on the beef stew I just had to try it. I was fixing for seven people so I had to add more beef broth and a few more vegetables. It didn’t come out as thick as Rachel‘s but I added some cornstarch, mixed with water, and it helped a lot. Just a note for those who are going to try this. Make sure your potatoes are not too small or they will get mushy. It was a big hit and I have leftovers to enjoy the next day. I watch her every day just for the enjoyment of watching her cook, and how she enjoys it. I also fixed corn bread to go with it, and it was a hit.

I’m 87 years old and enjoy your recipes. I live with my daughter and her husband so I don’t get to do much cooking, but things are going to change soon because I am going to start making some of these recipes. They all sound delicious.

I’m 62 years old and watching you is making me a better cook. Retirement has given me an opportunity to bless others with the abundance of my kitchen. Thank you for your step by step videos and your expert tips.
  • Hi, Rachel! I made your Old Fashioned Beef Stew yesterday. I usually make beef stew in my pressure cooker, but I will have to say that cooking it slowly was worth the wait! It was "over the top" delicious! I love watching your videos and plan to make some more of your dishes! I am a retired teacher and you do such a great job demonstrating your recipes and explaining "why" you do things a certain way! Keep up the great work!

I don't think I've ever enjoyed watching someone cook as much as this video. I like how you have moments of silence, just letting the viewer hear the sizzle or bubble of pots on the stove. It's relaxing as well as informative. Thank you.

My mother passed away a year ago at age 95. She loved to cook and bake. Watching you brings back the memories and comfort of her love of cooking💗

I just tried this recipe tonight! My husband has been saying it’s the best stew he ever had anywhere and had two servings. I didn’t have bacon grease so used butter instead and used 3/4 cup red wine plus 5 cups of the broth instead of the broth alone. It was to die for and the meat was fall apart tender. All I can say is wow! The best ever! Thank you, Rachel!
  • Rachel I just love the way you cook. I’ve been a good home cook for around 40 years, but for the past 20 or so, due to my busy lifestyle, I’ve been using shortcuts, readymade ingredients and packet mixes. I seem to have lost my mojo. No more! I’m retired now with lots of time and your recipes take me right back to the beginning, when I made everything from scratch, with passion. You use tried and tested methods, combined with years of experience. And that special ingredient - cooking with love. Thanks so much for inspiring me again Rachel. I’m hooked on your channel and am remembering how nice it is to cook from scratch. I started by watching your cabbage rolls, but it’s now midnight and I’ve watched five more videos lol. I’m obsessed. You have a wonderful style of presenting and clearly a genuine love of good food. You’ve made another fan and I’ll be watching everything you post. I’ve been watching YouTube videos for years, but have never felt the need to comment before now. Keep up the good work 💖

  • Ive been cooking beef stew wrong my whole life! After watching your video, I learned so many new tips on making this homemade comfort food more delicious. What I like best about your cooking videos is that you explain the WHY part of your preparations and techniques. This helps keep the final result mistake proof and a meal worry of praise. Glad I found you!
  • Thank you Rachel, I am 70 years old you just taught me how to make beef stew the right way.
