I was invited to spend a couple of nights at the Hyatt Place hotel on the Bath Road north of Heathrow airport and this is my review of that stay.

And for the record, there is no Tea and Coffee Making Facilities (Great Britain) Act of 1896.... I made that bit up!

  • A lot to unpack from that video (see what I did there), firstly congratulations on being selected to be a judge. Secondly, I request for my room to be away from the lifts so that I have less noisy people walking past my room at night, and finally, as you say in your description, the Tea and Coffee Making Facilities (Great Britain) Act of 1896 doesn't exist, but only because it is now a devolved matter 😊 Congrats again Matt, Phil

Nice video Matt. I'm down there next Saturday (visiting friends coming in from the US). Looking forward to my stay after this. Thank you.

Hey what a cool reason for being there! Oh and have to say, I found a takeaway on Bath Road when I stayed there selling some kind of naan roll, one of the best things I've ever eaten, I think it was called Priya's. And then it's always worth a watch of the heavies coming in to land if they're on the right runway I guess, they almost skim the houses. Fair enjoyed this, cheers!

Congratulations Judge Matt😊. Nice video. Hilton man myself😇🇿🇦
  • I occasionally stay at The Thistle T5 for multiple nights re work. It’s dated & basic in some areas but the bar & restaurant has had a recent refresh, drinks are reasonably priced, the food there is generally good & the staff are all excellent. The main selling point has to be accessibility via the Heathrow Pods - blissfully simple compared to buses, cabs or Hoppa!

Fingers crossed for a new series of videos reviewing each of the travel products. I’m a sucker for travel gadgetry 😊 Congratulations Judge Jones x

Hi Matt, Love, love, loving the hotel review videos!!! I am at the sheraton Nice airport hotel at the moment, sitting on the roof top bar, pool area, overlooking the entire airport. Let me just tell you that this place deserves a visit when you are an airplane lover. It is rather expensive, but the daily emirates A380 that dries your swimming trunks whilst thundering past alone makes it worth the stay.....I loved it so much I added 3 more nights here, to the total despair of my wife!!!! Stay well. Thomas

So right Matt. Have only ever done 1 night stays. My car has spent loads more nights at Heathrow hotels than I have!
  • A regular haunt with the regular bus stop opposite- depending on room rate. Have left the car for two days on a couple of trips. The Pheasant Inn (a brisk walk) is excellent

"it was a beautiful British summer's day" - your humour one of the reasons I love your videos.  20 quid for breakfast seems a bit steep - but then I'm not frequently staying in airport hotels - but I think your average premier inn charges about 10 or 11 quid for a hot buffet breakfast option. I'm also with you - a soft mattress just does not work for me, so that would be a deal breaker for me considering this place.

I’ve stayed here a few times and will be back again next month - always an enjoyable stay. I’ve got status so usually get given a high floor with runway views which is a bonus. As you say, good breakfast and well connected via the public busses both ways. Little bit in middle of nowhere but the walk to the McDs/BP shop near the Thistle isn’t too onerous if the weather is decent. Hyatt Place at Schiphol is another strong option for an overnighter (or even a few days) if passing through Amsterdam. Breakfast better at HP Heathrow, gym better at HP Schiphol.

I usually stay at the Hyatt Place if I have an early flight from LHR - I have a bunch of Hyatt points from previous work travel and it is such a cheap redemption here. Agree with you, rooms are clean and I like that the wardrobe is open as there is less chance of forgetting things early in the morning! Did you have dinner there? Of the several times I’ve stayed, I’ve always found the food in the restaurant surprisingly really quite good!

I have stopped at the Renaissance and Courtyard by Marriott Hotel on the Bath Road along with the Hilton Garden Inn near to Hatton Cross underground and bus station. The Renaissance is the best in my opinion, I always ask for a runway view room on the 2nd floor were you get a great view of the take-offs if they are on 27R operations. The breakfast selection is very good, and Gaelee - the restaurant manager is very efficient at sorting out everyone who ventures down for breakfast in the morning. Though the bar prices can be a little bit steep, £12 for a cosmopolitan is beyond the pale in my book. Also pretty handy for the MacDonalds on Bath Road and the Aviation Retail Direct shop.

I’m a frequent here having Hyatt’s Globalist status. Sadly they do play games with points availability and room type descriptions, but my stays are always pretty pleasant. Breakfast is definitely a highlight.
  • Looking forward to your 55 item duty free/travel retail item review. It should be very interesting 😊 Did they throw in a cuddle toy 🧸

We have stayed at Leonardo London Heathrow Airport  in 2023 and we are staying there again next year the night before we fly.

Finding hotel loyalty programs frustrating, personal circumstances at moment mean I am stopping alot with ibis as cheapest, but its still cheaper to book via agoda and you get zero rewards/perks for constantly booking with same company. And travel lodge/premier inn don't have loyalty reward either so just going with whatever is the cheapest

These are the ones I enjoy.
