‘Have you no more memories?’
‘I am made or memories’
‘Speak, then.’

At first it is strange. I am used to keeping him from her, to hoarding him for myself. But the memories well up like spring water, faster than I can hold them back. They do not come as words, but like dreams, rising as scent from the rain-wet earth. This, I say. This and this. The way his hair looked in summer sun. His face when he ran. His eyes, solemn as an owl at lessons. This and this and this. So many moments of happiness, crowding forward.”

This movement - similar to the epilogue ties up the major motifs from the whole work. If you listen closely you’ll hear quotes from earlier movements underneath the deluge of strings.

I really wanted to capture the feeling of liquidity Patroclus notes when recounting the tale of his and Achilles life together. Like a broken dam. So all these smaller whispers of themes are surrounded by a wash of strings, woodwinds, and harp.

This is only the first half as I’m still ironing out the rest but this gives an idea at least. In this you hear Patroclus’ theme at the start, and’ Name One Hero Who Was Happy’ blended with ‘He Was Worth Ten of You’ a little later. I plan on threading a few more as I go so long as it feels natural.
