Hello my lovelies! Here’s a new song for you called ‘White Raven’. Different cultures assign different attributes to ravens. For some, they are an omen of impending doom, while others see them as a symbol of hope and wisdom. As it goes, black ravens symbolise the quest for answers, the void, or the spiritual journey. The white ones, according to some, are usually perceived as a symbol of hope or a miracle. It is said that they serve as ‘messengers’ between people and nature. In the Celtic religion, they were associated with prophecy and secret divine knowledge. Of course, speaking of ravens, I have to mention the two famous helpers of Odin. Did you know that only Muninn, the raven of memory, was black, while Huginn, the raven of thought, was actually white? Some sources claim that they both were originally white and had icy blue eyes. I find it poetic, really - the thought, which goal is to bring about a better future, being white (or ‘pure’), and the memory, that contains all the burdens and mistakes of our past, being black (or ‘dark’). The more Nature controls, the more she also informs, guides, keeps stable. Some of us know this instinctively. Which is why we are nostalgic for a time when Nature had more control. Which is why even a "city" scene like this is comforting. These scenes recall a time and place "before." Before what? Not sure, but we (the somewhat informed, guided, stable) don't like this "after" we're now in. A marker in time? Perhaps the time and place of Jane Eyre. YMMV.
