  • This is my favourite episode of Season 7. It really shows how far Gordon has come since the TV series' inception. He started out prideful, rude, and full of himself, but became a much wiser and more mature engine. And he managed to conquer the very hill he got stuck on in the second episode of the series. And it's true that Spencer is pretty much a reflection of Gordon in his younger days. Which is why he makes a great rival for the Express Engine. Your analysis of this episode was stellar, my man!

What I love about this episode is THIS show's both the strengths and weaknesses of Gordon's true character it starts off him being pompous as usual which in most cases usually leads to him screwing up especially when he crashes (off the rails, famous visitor, better view and best dressed in the same season) but this episode shows another engine messing up and one thing that's true to Gordon's character is that when another engine is in trouble even if they were a jerk prior he's not afraid to instantly help out he was the engine to help James up the hill despite his boasting, help Percy out of a sand bank, joined the deputation squad for the scots, offered Henry a chance out of the tunnel when he broke down, and most of all despite Thomas rubbing the ditch incident in his face he instantly rescues him AND vocalizes his request for Thomas to get his branchline back. So this episode PERFECTLY captures Gordon's full personality I honestly think he should've been the Season 7 MVP in Unlucky Tug's series. Great video my guy

Gordon & Spencer is w/o a doubt one of the greatest episodes to come out of S7 because of the historical real life connection that makes a great rivalry and a neat character arc for Gordon in the Classic Series. Although, according to Lee Pressman in a recent interview, he stated he wasn't satisfied of how he had written it because apparently the producers told him to change it until he wrote the final script for the episode. Afterwards, he was never allowed to come back to write for Thomas until S17, so it makes me wonder what his original idea was for the episode before he was pressured to change it.
  • My grandpa's other favorite engine other than James. :) Mr. Fast and sexy himself... ;) Gordon has his fair share of happy and mature moments. "Confused coaches" had him and Spencer settle their differences. The scene where Gordon roasts Spencer about how some engines have numbers and some dont kills me! 😂🤣🔥😎 Times where Gordon stands up against Spencer or bonds with him from what I can remember: Edward the great Hero of the rails King of the railway Confused coaches When I first got the dvd that had this episode as well as other S7 episodes like "Spotless record", "Emily's new coaches", "Oliver the snow engine", "Peace and quiet", (I forgot what else) it had Michael Angelis' narration in both US and UK dubs instead of Michael Brandon's.

forgive me for saying this but I personally believe that season five is the best season of the classic era even better then season 5.

Although Gordon is still consistently pompous in the TV series, his episode one of his best.
