  • The comic book adaptation made the sensible decision to start the story as a prequel about Roland's backstory (with some new and expanded content), and it ran for dozens of issues until it got to The Gunslinger.

Came back to relive the experience of ka-baby Matt

I started listening today. Your podcast was recommended on a thread in the Constant Reader group on Facebook. I have just finished my second journey to The Tower. I love this series, and I enjoyed listening to you picking it apart. I look forward to listening to the rest of your thoughts.

The Dark Tower was the first large story that I finished alongside Harry Potter (due to the books releasing side by side-ish). Truly a masterpiece in my eyes and was my favorite story until I read Worm. I have been looking forward to you all doing this series! Long days and pleasant nights!

I am so pumped that you guys are doing this podcast. I have just started going back through the series, and it's great to listen to these podcasts after each section in case I missed something, or to get a second opinion. I hope you guys do it through the entire series!

I’ve been looking for someone who has recapped chapter 1. It was bit confusing for me so I’m glad you guys talked about it and gave your opinions. It definitely has helped me understand it and makes me eager to start chapter 2 now. Thanks!

"The world moved on" Texas in 2022: "lmao no"
  • 1:15:40 One interpretation is that he has no choice but to follow the "book of Ka" because the book is already written, after all, it is all a flashback inside a book.
  • Wow, didn't expect this. I dropped the Dark Tower at the beginning of book 3, but this might motivate me to finish them.

Thank you for doing this podcast! I love the discussions. One thing that blew my mind was the definition of the name Walter. So Walter O'Dim could mean something like "leader of the army of darkness" 🤯 I look forward to listening to more. Starting part 2 now. This series is in my top 2 of all time!
  • I'm deeply sad that I can never catch a series like this while it's being made. Either way I've got halfway through gunslinger years ago and I'm hoping to get back into it through this series. Thanks guys!

I've read this series twice & enjoyed it equally each time. I'm really enjoying this podcast. I'll just say for the first time reader that you will not predict these books so just read it & enjoy the amazing character & story development.

the King Crimson group has been around since 68, so I don't think it was a nod to King, but who knows!

I’ve just started this journey with you, and cannot wait to keep going! I’ve read them through twice, and love your in depth breakdowns and enjoy hearing Matt’s speculations. His accurate theories make me throw my hands up and say “you have no idea how right you are!” I am looking forward to finishing up book one with you soon!
