I'm getting into your podcast years after the fact. I set my boyfriend on the path to the Tower & am reading along with him & listening to your podcast waiting for him to catch up. I wish I'd listened as you were going, your discussions are amazing. One thing I didn't hear yet - King knows his characters so well that he knows Roland would never, ever, give up his gun voluntarily, so the Lobstrosities do it for King. This is how you at least partially disarm & tame this iceman & make him rely on others.

The way Eddie Dean's thoughts are written in this book reminds me of Hunter Thompson writing about Raoul Duke in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

I appreciate the discussion of the author in this episode. I have read a lot of King and have had a difficult time describing what I like so much about his writing. I've always thought of it being real and honest. King is not afraid to write (almost excessively) about how people really think, even the weird things that someone thinks but doesn't openly share.

Thanks to my Dark Tower Facebook page for letting me know this exits. Just finished this episode. I am listening on Spotify. So amazing. Thank you for doing this! Please keep it up. Nineteen thumbs up

See, I didn't know that King had a drug problem at all, especially while writing this book. This just makes the whole passage from Eddie about breaking one's spine to conquer addiction that much more powerful.

Wow, I didn't know these books were that old, this book was released two years after I was born. It holds up 36 years later.
