As a Spanish speaker who is neither French or Italian, I can confirm that both of them do not speak Spanish, but I appreciate the enthusiasm and effort

As a Spanish speaker, he said "What are?", Just as the Italian answered "These goods! This?" And this guy replied "Very good, very good". Makes absolutely non sense but they still managed to understand each other.

So on one side a team of French, on the other side a team of Italians and both choose to speak in Spanish, this is fantastic

This reminded me that time someone started a thread on twitter saying that since portuguese, french, spanish and italian are sibling languages everyone should be able to understand each other. Suddenly the whole thread was full of portuguese, french, spanish, latinamericans and italians talking in their own language but everyone understanding perfectly what the others were saying. Was really wholesome.

As a French, I confirm we set our own boat on fire and speak spanish when we encounter Italians.

I had an experience with some Italians, we did a skeleton fort together. Neither of us spoke a word of each other’s languages. We split up the loot into 2 piles and emoted to communicate. We got back on our boats to sell at the same place. I’m below deck when I hear a “MAMA MIA!!!” I go back up top to see the front of their boat pointing at the heavens as they’ve just crashed into a rock 😂
