"Osama Bin Laden's Animal Crossing Save" is certainly a new sentence I've never heard before. đź‘€

I am morbidly obsessed with Osama’s hard drive to an unhealthy degree. The fact that, at any point in time in the mid to late 2000’s, you could be playing Counterstrike with the actual most wanted terrorist in the world is further evidence that whatever created this universe has some strange sense of humor
  • one thing I love about your channel is the “let’s get right into it” vibe. I’ve seen a lot of channels like yours add super long pauses and / or talk really slow in order to boost video length and add a creepy effect, but all it does is take me out of the video. please please please never change that!

Shrimp McBites is HILARIOUS. I remember those, I lived around there, and everyone I knew hated them lmao. That's so wild. I didn't realize it was a "lost media" situation

I used to work for McDonalds. There's probably 3 or 4 products every year that are released in limited test markets and generally have minimal to no advertizing. Those products often never see a full release. For example, the Southern Chicken Biscuit was only available in certain areas for a limited time and had minimal promotion. I even went to a giant corporate event as part of training at one point where I learned about several products in other test markets from throughout the previous year that I'd been completely unaware of. As for the McLobster, that has more to do with the logistics of moving fresh lobster around the nation, so it's only available in areas where that is feasible.

I love that this is overall a wholesome and charming look at lost media! Lots of people tend to focus on incredibly dark or NSFL type lost media, so it's very refreshing to see about the more lighthearted mysteries (well, the animal crossing one may have a dark connection, but even then it's animal crossing. Lol)
  • The lost power metal band actually sounds like a really good band that, based on nobody knowing who they were, seems to have, unfortunately, never taken off. Also, three locations in total for a product across the span of a month really IS exclusivity!
  • Every time I hear or come across the Caretaker online, I instantly close the tab and try to forget about it. This isn't because the music is bad, but it's quite the opposite. The music just affected me so much that waves of sadness come over me whenever I think about it. The Caretaker accomplished what every artist yearns for.

There is a similar mystery to the Shrimp McBites packaging to be found in the lost Fish McBites lip syncing app. In 2012-2013 McDonald's advertised an app to promote Fish McBites that gave you a variety of mouths that would sing a song about the product. I remember my brother downloading the app on our iPod and one of the mouths singing about Shrimp McBites. I always thought it was weird because the item was never mentioned in the commercial and I never saw it advertised anywhere else. I live in the South and have never been to any of those McDonald's, but I distinctly remember the Shrimp McBites.

The whole Shrimp McBites thing makes me think about how I was trying to find any information of a promotional ice cream flavor at Baskin-Robbins during the first Shrek movie that I distinctively remember but no one else can seem to, nor does it seem to be in the archived menus: a sort of "Swamp Bugs" ice-cream that was a vanilla ice-cream that was greenish with chocolate pieces in the shape of beetles with green caramel, a sort of Shrek inspired Moose Tracks type ice-cream in a waffle cone I recall eating during a field trip with my fellow peers from Boys and Girls Club in San Diego in the early 2000s. I loved wacky treat ideas, and caramel is my favorite gooey stuff in deserts, and I remember being the only one on the trip that was brave enough to "eat the bugs". I wanted to find a visual of it when discussing Shrek snacks with a friend, and was shocked to find that the ice-cream either wasn't recorded or listed in the promotional materials.

I’m brenden2000 from the Shrimp McBites video. I’m still hoping it can be found one day and haven’t given up fully!

I remember seeing my siblings watching Paz in the late 00s, and it's strange to think that things I might have seen back then would just go missing for over a decade. Btw your videos are pretty refreshing compared to other similar channels Kylie. I really like your no bullshit approach to presenting these topics and your music/background video choices. Keep up the good work :)
  • I would love to see Osama's save! That would be completely surreal! A innocuous, safe glimpse into the mind of a monster.
  • Speaking from my own obscure lost media experience, one that I see almost no talk about is when 4kids sang the national anthem for a second time. Many of you have probably seen the cringey video where actors from 4kids sang the national anthem as their characters like Sonic, Luffy from One Piece, or Bloom from Winx Club. But I remember that they actually did an updated rendition around 2007-08. With characters from Yu-Gi-Oh and Chaotic. I actually saw it on TV before I saw the YouTube upload. I've always wondered if I'd ever be able to find it again and I even made a post on the lost media subreddit, but it didn't get much attention. Oh well, all I can do is spread the word where I can!

When I first heard the Shrimp McBites mystery in this video my reaction was "pfft how is it possible a product that recent is undocumented? This is fake" and then she showed that McDonald's directly mentioned it. Never underestimate lost content in any form.
  • @vicquemare
lost my mind seeing the paz show on here, i watched it constantly as a kid and still remember the episodes with the baby birds. i don't think i've ever seen a lost media video mentioning it, even though i've definitely tried to search for it myself. once again i'm thanking you for choosing to cover more obscure topics!
  • Mcdonalds is the MVP for responding with such a detailed response about Shrimp Mcbites. That's really cool.
  • @Svenir
I absolutely love the "Fall of the King" song, I really hope it gets identified one day.
  • Really obscure piece of lost media that's driven me up a wall these last few years because it seems really easy to find is the lost 2019, Japan exclusive My Little Pony manga released by Phase 6. As far as I know, we know nothing about about it itself as a piece of media (writer, artist, plot, etc), but we know exactly when and where it was published. We know what volume it was collected in, but no one has bothered to find that volume and upload at least one image from it. One that I'm rather passionate about is the, as far as I know, lost Astro Boy video game that came out a few years ago called Edge of Time. It was an online only card game featuring a suite of Tezuka characters with a really unusual artstyle. Some art was gangbusters, some was terrible.

"It could even be a faint memory of seeing it with your own eyes before it was lost and longing to see it again" damn this hits hard...I remember loving a certain series when I was a toddler...and now I don't even remember anything about it aside from a single character's name and a scene...
