This just shows how we are too dependent on technology
  • @azure4100
This also demonstrates, Microsoft could disable your system anywhere around the world. Not having offline backup is stupidity.

That's why people say don't depend on one product or service
  • Come on people, it's not Microsoft's fault, it's CrowdStrike's.
  • This wasn't caused by Microsoft but by third party vendor called Crowdstrike. Their error just happened to be related on software used on Windows.
  • @kleec495
"The cause, exact nature and scale of the outage are unclear" The cause: Latest update from security software Crowdstrike was causing BSOD on Windows computer. Since commonly Crowdstrike is only installed on corporate PCs, most of personal PCs are fine.

Microsoft outage and major IT outage delaying flights and banking systems are not related. Azure service has outage yes, but at the same time (day), Crowdstrike pushed an update which has an error and causing the boot loop errors.

Not in China, so stop saying it’s global for everything
  • That's what happens when everything has to be online. One issue and the whole network falls apart like a house of cards.
  • Look on the bright side. I dont have to work today thanks to this
  • @kamialexz
An entire shopping center and all the McDonald’s in my city were closed today in Japan because of the outage I was so shocked

That's why tech savvy people prefer FOSS.

Then it becomes liability and those companies starts to count their losses. But who's going to pay?
  • @trebledc
This is why I don't like 365 it's too network dependent. It's time the world to cancel the IP of Microsoft and let other company to do their own software.
