"We'll call it a feature" -The Minecraft Devs whenever the community grows attached to a bug
  • @madezio2
"We both know it's a bug, but if keeping it in the game will make you happy we can call it a feature" - Mojang, probably.

This isn't really one, but when the elytra was first added, we would propel ourselves up with punch bows, which was what inspired the firework implementation with elytra.
  • @m4rt_
Quasi-Connectivity was because they just reused the door code when implementing pistons, and they didn't remove the code that checked for the top half.
  • @SemiHypercube
I believe they're patching out the zombie pigman XP bug, as the devs have added a way to effectively AFK farm XP, in the form of sculk blocks (since they sometimes leave bugs in until they add a feature that serves the same purpose, that's why trident killers are a thing on bedrock because there's no sweeping edge)
  • 3:26 Quasi connectivity is by far the most frustrating “mechanic” in redstone. You’ll think you have a working mechanism, but then suddenly a piston refuses to retract and you have to start all over again.

I wanna clarify something: when a pigman is mad at a player and dies from an environmental cause, it technically actually counts as the player's kill, and that's why they drop xp. But it's not just xp, the player's statistics increment, advancements trigger, and basically whatever is based on player kills happens.

Tnt dupers are also a known bug, but mojang said they want to keep it until they add a moveable method to place tnt

If I remember correctly the first instances where you could crawl in 1 block tall spaces had to do with the Elytra. I remember seeing and making hidden 1 block piston doors where you could go through with an Elytra.

I remember when I first discovered god armour when playing in 1.14 and I was so confused about how protection enchantments were no longer mutually exclusive. I wonder if it also worked for enchanting swords and axes with sharpness, smite and bane of arthropods too. The changes to the player's hitbox when sneaking or crawling have to be my favorites on this list. It opened up so many new movement options (e.g. crawl-mining) and methods of creating entrances to bases or hidden pathways. And it's probably only going to get better with Swift Sneak.

I'm surprised you didn't mention another redstone bug that became a corner stone of the game, 1 tick pistons spitting out their block. It was originally unintentional, and in 1 snapshot, it was removed. And similar to the zombie piglin xp, the community backlash made them readd the bug in the next snapshot. Another cool fact, another important redstone bug was piston translocation, which the devs promised as a feature, but removed it for some reason.

Great selection! By the way, congratulations on that "Verified" badge, your efforts have definitely paid off!

Observers are technically shape update detectors, block update detectors (BUDs) still have their own uses apart from observers.
  • @blosee
devs when they like a bug: Yea.. let’s just pretend we don’t know about the bug because we can use it in our world
  • @borico62
3:17 Reading the bug report (it's MC-936), it HAS been patched. It's just that they don't know if the patch worked or not. There have been more reports of flying squids, but they aren't sure if they're due to THIS bug, or different, unrelated bugs that are confirmed to be still open (such as MC-58294, MC-89883 or MC-134626).

I knew about most of these Minecraft bugs turned features except for crouching and crawling! I never actually knew about that it was originally a bug. I also have witnessed the flying squid bug on your server when the server was in 1.17.1! Great video as always.
  • @Dolphin002
1.19 would be a good time to fix the zombie pigman xp bug, since sculk catalysts could replace it. I knew crawling was originally a bug, but I thought the lower sneaking change was just to make sneaking have more of a use
