  • It's funny, people always talk about how cheap Gibsons and Fenders were in the 60s etc. But if you do the math on money conversion they were actually the same or more back then.
  • @brad_neal
I'm 66 and just purchased my first "real" LP. It's a 1960 reissue AAA Standard - I freakin' love it. It sits right next to my chair in the living room, and I can't stop looking at it or playing it. So when you say "does it inspire you to play?", absolutely - my fingers can attest to that!! Nice video!!
  • When your wife says you should buy a guitar .... you just do it!
  • Thanks, Dylan. I always say "The only value money has is the health, safety or happiness you get when you spend it."
  • @weczq4
Got my first Les Paul (Cherryburst Tribute) last summer. And I feel the same about it. I can't afford most Gibsons (I teach high school) but I took a gig at summer school to afford one. Love it. Love the feel of it. And I still walk by it in my living room every morning and look at it and go just a little ga-ga!

"If this thing is gonna make me smile a bunch, it's worth what I paid for it." I love that statement. It doesn't matter if an instrument is cheap or expensive, a known brand or home made by a kid; if it makes you happy and inspires you to play, then it's great! I don't like cilantro, but that doesn't mean that somebody else can't enjoy it. That guitar looks awesome btw...
  • Dylan, I appreciate your comments and congratulations on your LP! I just got a ‘22 Gibson LP Standard 50s Gold Top with the humbuckers and it is fantastic! It’s my dream guitar, and yes I smile just thinking about it. Rock on!
  • "this guitar does not sound like an Epiphone, it sounds like a Gibson" I can hear heads exploding all over. LOL. Beautiful LP you got there. Its worth every penny when you get a good one.

Hey Dylan, when you mentioned does it inspire you and make you feel good, yes indeed. Buying what you love weather this brand or that brand changed the way I look to my life especially lately became on a wheelchair and hospital bed but I have even owned a studio and a music store too and collecting and even building all kind of guitars which made life worth living and so many things on the list still to do . Thank you Dylan and hope year 2023 brings you my good friend, your lovely wife, and everyone watching and subscribing more joy, good health and more wealth . Regards from ENGLAND 🌈👍👏

17:35 that is exactly my reaction to my first Gibson Les Paul, I wonder how many guitars you or all of us hugged like that and shows loved for guitar. Awesome to see this video
  • I missed the live but enjoyed your insight and the comments. Is it worth it? Yes, if it's what you want and it doesn't take resources from things you need. Thanks for the post.
  • @leadstrat
Congratulations on your first Les Paul! I got my first one last August. It’s funny, the first one I picked up was a November burst model. One thing I noticed is each LP I tried out had slight differences in setup, feel and even tone. Even the same models. So, I went with the best overall one I picked up. It ended up being a 50’s Standard in HCS. The big neck was new to me, but my strat is a V neck so I’m used to some thickness to the neck. Hope you and your wife enjoy the new axe.
  • Very well put, Dylan, about the smile factor. Music in general is a life investment. You eat it, breathe it, and sleep it. That Les Paul would make a good sleep partner for sure! Beautiful instrument, sounded great in your hands. KEEP IT !!
  • I have that very same guitar. And the Vermilion burst. The tone that I get from them is amazing. I now have 6 Gibson LP’s, and I love them. Couldn’t be happier.
  • Very nice. I like the November burst as well. I don’t have one, but it’s my favorite “signature” guitar made today. I prefer the tobacco burst finish on lp’s, so probably why it’s my favorite.
  • @danielc418
Just ordered mine, can’t wait to pick it up!!!
  • Congrats on the Slash Gibson Les Paul! It’s a beautiful guitar! I’m sure it sounds amazing. I bought a 60s standard a couple of years ago and love it!
  • Bought my first Les Paul this past year and love it. It’s a ‘22 tribute but it checked the boxes I wanted, satin neck and finish right pickups and it’s hard to put it down.
  • Bought a new in box 2022 60' standard in Iced tea on sale a few days back and love it! Like yours it has NO flaws whatsoever. Worth the money? Hell yeah! 🤘😎🤘
