We do seem to be attached to our mobile phones in our day to day life, when you’ve got a handbag or jean back pocket it’s not a problem, but when it comes to carrying your phone on a run it poses some challenges.

As we started to cover longer distances we realised we needed to find a way to have it as back up. There are plenty of options out there, Heather thought she'd give a few a try, to help you choose what can work for you.

Do you run with your phone when running? Do you have any tips? Let us know

i just don't wanna run without listening to music
  • @yrnseventh
The reason why i always bring my phone when i run is the tracker app because i can't afford any of that super smartwatch lol
  • Yes I do run with my phone. However it does affect my arm swing. When I run without my phone I feel more freedom but I need to run with it because I don't have a running watch.

It‘s rather surprising that in 2020 there are still companies manufacturing running clothes without phone pockets, anyway. That‘d be the first thing coming to my mind if I had to design stuff like that..

I just hold it in my hands and pretend it’s a baton from a track relay

Always run in cycling tops - back pockets for the win

The video I needed! I run holding the phone in my hand, it isn't exactly comfortable but one gets used to it; I switch hands from time to time when the hand holding the phone feels heavy or enervating.

I'm a casual / moderate runner, new to it this season (more-so in love with barbells, and having a COVID-affair with cardio). Snagged a running/racing belt and it has changed my run completely; no bouncing pockets, can stick a granola or protein bar in there for the long runs, and best of all, no key noise!

I love my FlipBelt! I've been using it for several months and it hasn't lost a bit of elasticity. It's amazing how much you can cram into it! And, like Heather said, you truly don't know it's there. One thing I do differently than what was shown in the video: when I put my phone in a front pocket of the belt, like Heather did, I then turn the belt around so the phone is over the small of my back instead. It vanishes -- I completely forget it's there. Oh, and there's a clip in one of the pockets for you to put a key on -- very secure!
  • Flipbelts are so good that you forget that you have your phone with you!

Thanks! I just went for my first run with a hydration vest for longer hotter trail runs out here in Colorado, and the phone worked great in the front pocket. I would have never thought to put it there and probably kept running with it in my back pocket of my short without this video.

Actually can't stand carrying anything in my hands when running! 😂 running belt for me, or a very light backpack if I need to take water for the longer runs.

Since I have a phone case I starting using 2 wrist bands and used those to secure the phone around my arm like an armband but it is more comfortable than most armbands with phone pouches. It also fits around any phone size and case size. It is also easy to access the phone if needed and the wrist bands are not costly at all, even for name brand ones.

I've used the Fitletic Ultimate II run belt for years. Primarily because my insulin pump fits perfectly in the side pocket, but on the rare times I do actually run with my phone it fits easily in the main pouch. No bounce and barely shifts when running.

I run with my 4 legged mate, so I have a belt from DOOG, his running lead clips on, my keys and my phone go in the pocket. It’s snug and even has some plastic bags for 4 legged runners belly. It’s a bit expensive but so worth, the price 🐶👟👟
  • @ryan5637
I use a FlipBelt. Just finished my run and saw this video. Forgot I still had it on until after the video was over. It's that good.
  • @pord
Always take it for a few reasons... 1 audiobooks and 2 incase of emergency to name some. Also use a flipbelt to carry mine.
  • @Crymerge
I have used the same Flipbelt for the last 3 years. No issues whatsoever. Carries my phone, keys, water, and nutrition. I recommend it.
  • @dimrub
I've been running with a waistband just like yours for almost 3 years now, and it works great. I have the phone there, a credit card, keys and a couple of wet wipes, just in case. When I run on a trail I do have a vest or a water belt, so the phone goes there, but some of those have only limited space, so for that occasion I actually have a separate, much smaller phone, just for running: mine is Unihertz Atom I bought off Kickstarter. It has everything I need: Strava, Garmin Connect, Audible, Spotify, and a camera, of course, and I don't need a larger phone while running anyway.
