2018 Kentucky Derby

First I've seen the race. Jockey gave Justify a very soft ride until clubhouse turn. Still didn't have to turn on the after-burners. I believe that's a horse to be reckoned with. What a beautiful animal.

This horse will EASILY be one of the greatest horse of all time. Such a young horse and is already dominating the field without having to use the whip. He's a giant monster and will be undefeated for years to come.

Hahaha! Justify beat all their butts! No excuses! They all ran on the same slop and it was brutal! Baffert and crew always prepare well for derby no matter what! The best ever baby!

The winner ? Magnificent.....imperious even. The one that caught my eye was Audible. Great run up the inside rail.

Bad luck for Mendelssohn!! I thought he would be running neck to neck with Justify!! Videography of the race is just awesome.

He has a great stride about him. He took longer strides, meaning less energy expended, and distance eating. Deep chest, great for endurance. Who knows maybe he will be the next Triple Crown Winner. Just need to keep an eye on that back left hindleg, has a bit of mud fever. Hope it heals up before the Preakness. It's aggravating, and hopefully won't effect his performance.

There is no horse race tougher or rougher than a wet Kentucky Derby! Mendelssohn literally didn't know what hit him when he came out of the gate. Getting out front or to the rail early is so important in the Kentucky Derby; especially in the slop. Some people have criticized Moore, but once Mendelssohn was body checked, it was going to be difficult. Moore got him to mid pack, took him off the bit and "asked the question" - Mendelssohn with a face full of slop said no thanks, so Moore wisely shut him down! It was a lesson learned for Moore, Aidan O'Brien and Mendelssohn - hopefully they will be back for The Breeders, and better prepared! I wanted Mendelssohn to win and had backed him to "show", but I also had money on Justify to "show" - after all only a fool would not put money on "Big Money" Mike Smith when riding a Kentucky Derby favourite. Because Justify's odds were so short, I actually lost money overall, but it could have been worse. Justify is definitely looking like American Triple Crown material.
