I cried at Reigen's birthday. Probably the first time he had close friends for a long time

I want to also point out that when Toichiro tries to fight mob in the final arc he ultimately decides to retreat with his son. He decided that it was okay to run away which is exactly what Reigen told Mob in their first encounter with Claw, further cementing Reigen’s lessons as the thematic back bone of this incredible series.

I read a comment on Reigen's running. It stated that in Japan, pulling your shoes off indicates suicidal intentions. It showed that Reigen was willing to die to get through to Mob. That's how good of a person Reigen really is at his core; the best anyone should aim to be really.

I freaking love how from the perspective of some characters, Reigen is a master psychic that dealt with the entire scar division by himself (season 1 finale), defeated the most powerful warping psychic (season 2 finale), and could stop Mob when he went nuclear (season 3 finale) If the show wasn't called Mob Psycho, Reigen could perfectly be the main character in a comedy show about a con-man psychic getting involved in real pshychic organization shenanigans, and everyone freaking falls for it

Mob Psycho is honestly so underrated. Even though it's pretty popular, it's still underrated imo. It's just that good.
  • @ryukivye
That's a great perspective. Mob Psycho 100 is pretty much an antithesis of typical shonen mangas/animes.
  • @GuiltyGal
When you can trust a con-man more than your barber. 😢
  • Another little detail i love, when he first met dimple, he REFUSED to let him posses him. He never trusted dimple with his body and always had his eyes on him. But the moment he needed to get to mob, he lets dimple help him despite everything, and got to mob because of this.

Reigen wasn’t lying when he said he was the only reason they Mob was able to control his power
  • What I love about the Shigeo-Reigen dynamic is basically that they are the antithesis to Rick and Morty dynamic. The latter has this sort of toxic-codependence with each other that they would never want to admit to one another; while Reigen despite his con-man tendencies, actually teaches Mob how to be a better person. Reigen takes advantage of Mob's powers, that much is certain, but he genuinely cares about the kid like his own friend or nephew. It's a good subversion of the parasitic trope in fiction and the fact that the show ends with Reigen admitting to Mob that he was a conman to which mob already knew is what makes this series so powerful to me. Reigen teaches Mob how to be a good person by being the idealized version of himself, in turn, Reigen seeks to be more like his idealized self and improves himself. He makes mistakes here and there but he's always there to pick himself and the others around him back up. That's why to me Reigen, despite his absurd con man persona, is actually a really admirable person - not perfect, but that makes him even more admirable

I absolutely agree. I’ve said it and I’ll keep saying it that’s the great thing about Reigen is that a lot of people feel like they’re bad at being a person but with the way that Reigen fails and how he still so charismatic anyway it tells you it’s OK to be bad at being a person because he doesn’t tell you to be good at being a person he said to be a good person that is all, kindness is the key to your charm. It’s a nice thought that you don’t have to succeed at being, you just have to be kind.
  • @Gimmestellas
Honestly, i knew how empactful this salt exorcist was from the start .
  • @hish33p32
Great essay here, obviously Reigen is the star child of One's Mob Psycho 100, but this video explains why from your perspective explained thoroughly
  • @dogf421
    reigen is my comfort character
  • @Infinitykoay
Bro why is this channel so underrated bruh it actually kinda makes me mad
  • @Shmomp.
Something else is not wearing shoes symbolizes with suicided, and Reigen before trying to stop Mob in season 3 takes his shoes off to show that he'll risk his life for him.
  • @SixEyesCulture
for real. Mob one of the greatest shows of all time for me. With Reigen the Goat.
  • @jarkdoke
Reigen is a catalyst to Mob, this series will suck without his intervention.
