  • the saddest part about this is that 90% of these locations he have shown, that survived over a decade will get griefed.

I love how similar this is to actual archaeology. "You see the dirt blocks placed in this pattern? This was an old tree farm." 2:56 "Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what this was used for. Probably just some decoration piece." 4:02

5:39 Minecraft release 1.0 changed sun rise and set from North and South to East and West so technically the screenshot is not lined up correctly at all hence the difference. The "f" in the screenshot reads 0 which is South ingame.

This is like when you revisit an old childhood game but it's not as good now as it was in your memories.

never thought we could literally have abandoned buildings in minecraft but here we area. This is actually so cool
  • @SoldiesBC
I bet all of those locations are gonna be a crater soon. Good going Sal.

I remember joining when the spawn was a massive empty area with lava walls surrounding it. What year would this have been?

The screenshot at 3:19 was of a base called "Swastika Base", it was built in March 2011 and was first griefed April 2011 11 years ago, it was one of the first major bases to be griefed on the server and earliest documented grief on 2b2t

It feels like revisiting your country after war. You look at place that once was beautiful , was your home . But now it's dust and bits of memories.
  • i love how sal is casually talking while people are arguing throwing curses and slurs at eachother in the chat XD

i just love how much this video resembles an archaeologist uncovering ancient ruins, partly preserved partly lost. the excitement of finding old stones and walls still intact, the half-ruinous but still standing remains of an old farm, its almost funny how many parallels you could draw to say a Roman villa being uncovered from deep into some forgotten pit

Look at those textures. Pure nostalgia. They hit different now. This video feels like an archeology adventure.
  • @Lequish
only on 2b2t will someone say "no way.... that is the same cobblestone that was in the back of the image!"
  • @Ninja_Walrus
This video is encapsulates everything I love about 2b2t, and that sign farm was epic 🤣 Great work Sal 👏

Even though 2b2t is not a server I would ever make the effort to join (I'm not a competitive or thick-skinned person by nature, I wouldn't have what it takes to enjoy playing on the server), it's incredible to see the deep appreciation and respect some people on the server have towards the server's history, and the genuine attempts to document that history and even attempt to reconstruct historically significant builds. The server's history is fascinating and I enjoy learning more about it and seeing these sort of comparisons, it's very interesting!

These kinds of vids always make me feel a little bad cause I know a week from now all these "intact" places are gonna be gone lol
  • @splattab

4:35 this feels like how someone would react on some sort of old history TV series while exploring an old castle irl, haha.
