I think we shouldn't be angry at toyota for getting rid of the v8s, because they're being taxed over by emissions and safety standards.

In regards to 5 star rating… ANCAP lost the plot some time back. They now just keep shifting the goal posts to remain employed… If only we tracked the stats on how many people had accidents while trying to turn off yet another annoying alarm in the car.. ABS, Seatbelts, Airbags all good. A car that fights you and tries to steer you into crap or beeps at you for checking the mirrors too often in its opinion… F right off.
  • There's no mention of the longevity of the 4 cylinder vs the V8. Common sense says the 4 cylinder has to work so much harder than the V8.
  • @Darkrif1957
why dont they offer the v6 tubo as in the 300 series ?
  • The V8 ended when they stopped taking orders for it. The current deliveries will have V8 from remaining stored parts to assemble the motors.

Long Live The V8! People still want them. My LC 200 series just jumped in price. Thanks Toyota, Thanks Aussie government 👍
  • @frantickle
Why the 4 cylinder out performs the V8 is basically because the V8 comes from factory heavily under tuned and the 4 cylinder comes “over turned”.
  • @MelodyMan69
Opportunity for RAM to take that market share. Toyota will regret it ! They fckd up.
  • They should bring back the turbo 6 cylinder, would be a definite winner with customers.

Even before the V8, land cruisers always had the bigger engine then the Hilux. I think having an engine from a hilux in a land cruiser will just tank the sales. Toyota needs to make and Iline 6 or V6 if they want the cruiser to stay

So the full back story is that this V8 is running at 40% power from factory! A safe tune re map will take it to 70% and double the torque from around 340nm to 620nm at the wheels and and increase of over 100kw! Different vehicle that blows the 2.8 out of the water!

Changed to Hilux's from 70s 10 yrs ago and the current 2.8 tows my 3t boat, tandem trailer with tractor with ease. Nicer ride, more comfort and more tech for half the price. I won't be going back to a 70 series in a hurry.

Only one donk will deliver 1 Million ks and it's not the 4cylinder
  • @15harry1561
I’m sure my V8 will still be going strong long after the 4. cylinder has given up .

Crossing fingers for the full size yank utes with a big V8 cummins to come out as a RHD from the factory so we dont have to pay double. Nothing beats a heavy vehicle with a big diesel for towing heavy things. Not all of us live in the city and want to drive a f’ing EV.

I have a 2023 model Prado 2.8 diesel. It pulls like a tank. Here in Japan where I live is nothing but mountains. It will cruise at any speed you put it at regardless of the steepness of the hills and stick at the speed. Put your foot down and it quickly builds up speed even on very long, steep motorway roads. Cant see why anyone would want a V8 when the 2.8 4 pot is way superior in every way. I think most want them as status just to say they have a big V8.
