We painted the garage floor and added a coat of clear sealant to give it a little extra strength. (Please note: In the video, we refer to the top coat as epoxy. This is incorrect. It is an acrylic sealant)

This is a short video that actually took a couple weeks to complete due to the time it takes for the various layers of paint to cure. It made such a tremendous difference in how the garage looks but we welcome your comments and suggestions.
  • Using Bonding Primer after etching the surface and before using the paint and clear epoxy will make it last longer and prevent premature flaking.

I can’t wait to do this on my garage!!! Thank you for this budget option!!
  • Very well done! simple but nice. Making me want to paint and epoxy my garage floor.

Thanks for the video. It sure looks simple enough. Gonna have to try it out and give my garage floor some shine.
  • We did something similar to that at our old house, and it did peel off a little bit, but the clear epoxy you put on should prevent that from happening. Nice job!
  • @AverageMe
It looks great! I'd love to know how it holds up.
  • Nice job Richard! Looks great, I've been looking into applying the epoxy or garage floor mats but will try this instead. I just hope it turns out as well as yours did!

Looks awesome!!! Going to try this method. By reading some of the comments maybe I should two coats of the behr paint then apply the clear epoxy coat and hopefully i won’t have chip marks instantly. Anyways thank you!

Your video is generally complete and thorough. But my question is: What will you do when you have to "Repaint" the garage surface? Is there an etching compound or sander that will be needed? My garage floor was painted by a prior owner. And it has spots where my vehicle timers rest that have peeled. No what?

I have an existing epoxy floor, but I would like to change the color. Do I have to remove the old color entirely?
