2008= Sam is "tiny baby"??? Cries in 1968 😭😭😭
  • @inkriziter
As a self taught artist I’m actually baffled at how talented 12yr old Sam was
  • The technical skill you possessed at that young age baffles me- It’s not even because of the whole “young prodigy” thing, but having patience and understanding of things like line weight, blending, shading, perspective, etc.

Geez, I thought this was gonna make me feel better about my art, not worse. Sam was a pro since day 1 😩
  • @gorjindo
I am utterly surprised, bewildered, baffled, taken aback, astonished, stunned, and flabbergasted at the beauty of some of the sketches from Sam’s middle school years Edit: Quite perplexed as well

it's insane how good Sam's art was and he was 11?!? pure talent
  • @boomerang_guy
Art god 🫵 even at 10 your robot drawings were INSANE
  • @Kuntuber
It’s crazy how Sam told us not to compare ourselves to his drawings from his younger days and how you shouldn’t put yourself down, but everyone is putting themselves down by comparing themselves to him anyway.

Remember that a lot of us start our art journey later. Be it because we were discouraged by parents, teachers, or peers. Or we just didn't have time or motivation. Sam was really lucky that his guardians not only encouraged his art but also gave him the tools to be good at it. Be kind to yourself.

i was sitting there baffled as a self-taught artist and then he mentioned a tutor and suddenly everything made sense. Ive been drawing since i was five but never with anyone to push me to learn fundamentals so i was just drawing whatever i felt like. i only got serious about it in late middle school.

An observation: it appears lots of Sam’s early drawings were mechanical but that also means he had subconsciously learned to draw shapes well in his childhood, since robots are largely made of cylinders and different rectangles therefore giving him a foundation for organic figures later. I’m sure this helped him in his development of framing out a subject and transposing it with digital paint. Not to mention the plethora of resources available in a digital medium. Impressive work at that age though! Inspires me to pick art back up.

Sams shading and shape language on mechanical objects as a kid was crazyyyyy

17:10 The map design was so beautiful that God himself didn't want us to see it yet

Idk like I’m actually just at a loss of words. I’ve been drawing since I was at least 7, pretty much whenever I had free time. I always drew strictly from imagination but from what I can remember I was never able to think or draw that level of detail. It’s truly shocking and almost confusing in a way, I just don’t understand how at such a young age you were able to conceptualize such detailed and clean ideas. It doesn’t discourage me or anything, it just genuinely intrigues me bc I don’t know why I wasn’t able to do the same
