How a Brand New Company Beat Ford, Chevy and Dodge

The valuation of the company is more for marketing and drawing in investors than it is an indicator of how well a company is doing, or what their capabilites are. Like yeah these companies got money, they're run by billionaires, but can you build a car well and deliver it consistently? Can you follow up that success? Mazda is worth next to nothing and sells fewer cars than their competitors, but they still spend the money to develop the Miata properly.

I like how all of these companies count $100 reservations as preorders.

From my perspective, being a person who grew up in a smaller town and had always loved and driven trucks, Ford has really made the biggest step for potential customers like me. This is that they have made an EV for truck people, rather than a truck for EV people.

I'm so excited for Rivian to actually be competition against Tesla

I honestly thought that the "much cheaper" F-150 Lightning was going to be the death of Rivian. Glad that's not the case since dealers are marking up Lightnings to be more expensive than the R1T lol

As a Tesla technician, I really hope other brands pick off. We sell too many cars that techs cant maintain or support. Our market growth is exp. larger than our expansion of service centers, which overloads our work and stresses everyone out, haha. Job security i guess, but it's going to make us EV techs an expensive commodity once Lucid and Rivian hit the market.

Rivian stock has dropped 40% in a matter of weeks. As impressive as their product looks, for the time being they are just part of the electric vehicle startup bubble.

Crazy how the stock price has been cut in HALF since filming.

I think both the Rivian and Lucid look really cool, but I still feel like they're only a few steps removed from the concept car stage. They both produced enough copies to get a few into consumer and - more importantly - reviewer hands, but then pulled way back from their delivery promises. I think the car and truck of the year monikers are way premature until they show that they can actually produce vehicles in some sort of meaningful quantities, not to mention being able to support those vehicles once they leave the factory.

I enjoy seeing a new Wheelhouse episode every Monday. I think it would be great to highlight some smaller American automotive manufacturers, like Devon Motorworks, Carbon Motors, BXR Motors, Trion Supercars, Lyons Motor Car, Falcon Motorsports, Rossion Automotive, and Panoz Automotive Development. These are some companies that have shaped the sports car, super car, or hyper car landscape and I feel that the YouTube audience deserves to know about these brands. I live by the factory in Illinois and I see R1Ts all of the time. The town is excited as businesses have generally been leaving, like Mitsubishi and State Farm (which is still headquartered here but slowly sending employees elsewhere).

Friend of mine works for Rivian, says it's good and they are looking to follow the Ford model with the single chassis multiple body types. So wouldn't be surprised if a wagon or sedan comes out in a year or two.

Tbh just makes me wonder when the next bubble is gonna burst. Its a dangerous trend that companies are worth so much money in theory without actually delivering any product or having any substancial marekt share. Things like that can go wrong so easily, and they did in the past.

Was this video made before or after Rivians stock went from $170 to $60 and is on a sharp decline. Company is massively overvalued and their assets are punitive compared to the big three.

Nolan, I understand it’s your opinion but you are wrong. I would argue the Tesla hvac is easily one of the most underrated/ overlooked things about the car. No vents and knobs was absolutely the right choice and I’ve never once needed to change the settings aside from temp which is always on screen (even change it on screen without interruption of Netflix). The airflow is superior and the design is clean.

I saw one of these driving around down by Zion national park last week. Needless to say I was very surprised to see that light bar driving towards me coming around a corner. Very cool
